Hey guys, I have been reading this thread al night and everyone’s stories have made me realize I am not alone. For the first time in a long time I have some hope that I can still fix things in my life. You have all inspired me to share my story.
I am 23 years old and I have been gambling since I was 16. It all started when a couple of my highschool friends decided to open up a book. At first I kept my losses to a minimum but I was hooked from the start. At the start I was only losing around $100 a week ( a lot of money to a 16 year old) but as I got older the losses began to grow. My friends being my bookie definitely strained our relationship when I was late on payments. Mostly every week I would max out my account and I couldn’t wait till first thing Monday morning for my account to reset so I could bet again. By the time I was graduating highschool I already began to have a reputation for loosing money but so did a lot of my friends so I didint really think too much of it.
Throughout college I was lucky enough to have my parents send me chase periodically to spend on food/ social life. Most of this went straight to gambling as bounced from bookie to bookie trying to cover my losses. At this point I was a junior in college and things started to get pretty serious. I realized I had a problem but was unable to stop. I was chasing after my losses every week. Once I would go on a hot streak it was like I would forget all abt what it was like to lose and all my problems would go away. All my summer jobs income would go straight to fueling my gambling. I hit rock bottom multiple times in college, owing bookies hundreds of dollars while my bank account was at $0. Each time I would tell myself I was done gambling and I would slowly pay off my debts. My all time low was when I had to call up my mom and ask to borrow money to pay off a bookie. She was very disappointed in me and I felt awful. She made me promise to never put myself in this situation again.
Looking back at my college experience I feel like 90% of it was spent being stressed out abt paying someone back or avoiding a bookie. Once I graduated and was starting a real job I told myself I would use this as a fresh start and give up gambling. At first I was able to give it up for a little bit, I was starting to build up my bank account every week thanks to my new job and I was feeling good about the path my life was going down. For the first time in my life I was not broke anymore and I had the power to spend money as I pleased. I was able to use my money to book flights to visit my girlfriend/friends back in college and life was good. Then came the legalization of sports online sports betting in my state. I decided to open up an account and deposit $100. This quickly spirald out of control. After every loss I would deposit more money and my bank account shrunk after each week. It got to the point where I was gambling away each hard earned paycheck days after it hit my account. I felt so shitty abt this because it was like I was working for free. Then came a win streak where I was able to win abt $4,000 in 2 weeks. Everything was good again and I forgot all about my problem. When COVID hit I was out of work and no longer had a stream of income. My bank account was at about $8,000 which would of been enough to live off of until I could start working again. After my heater my bet size grew tremendously I went from wagering $50 a bet to $100 then to $300 on some bets, eventually there were some bets where I would wager up to $1000 dollars on if I was up on my account. No matter how much I won I never was able to keep it. I quickly burned though the $8000 in my bank account and was broke again. I was so embarrassed and the last thing I wanted was for my girlfriend to find out. I hit a new all time low when I stole $2,000 out of my moms bank account to cover some debts/ gamble again. This was about 2 months ago. I immediately felt horrible for doing this and had a panic attack. I came clean to my parents about everything. I told them how out of control this had gotten and how I needed help to stop. I told them I was scared and I wanted my life back. They were not mad at me but were very understanding and supportive when I first told them. I promised to stop and you would think this would be the end of it right? I really wish it was.
After coming clean to my parents everything began to feel so real. The gravity my addiction finally set it. I was so embarrassed and I could not believe I let myself get to this point. I quickly fell into a depression and was put on medication to help. I wanted to use this a fresh start. I was broke but did not owe anyone any money. I wanted to earn money the right way and leave this all behind me. I knew I had lost a ton in this past but I was ready to leave that in the past. This was about 3 weeks ago. Since then I stopped using the legal sports sites because my parents were monitoring my bank accounts. However, a friend of mine from college had a book and I opened an account with him. The first week I quickly lost $1,000. I was devastaded and so dissappinted in myself that I fell back into this hole. I couldn’t stop tho I was determined to win it back and start fresh again. The second week I lost another $1000. I wanted to stop but I couldn’t. My bookie was my friend I was worried he would tell all my friends back at school about my losses and worse, he would tell my girlfriend (she has no idea abt the extent of my losses). This week was my last shot to win my money back before he returned to school from break and saw my friends and girlfriend. I was using this week as one last shot at saving myself. Of course it did not work and I lost another $1500. My girlfriend is returning to school this weekend and she will be sure to hear about my losses and I’m so ashamed.
This brings us today. If you are still reading I really appreciate it because I never told anyone abt the extent of this. I am at a loss for words, i do not know what to do. My back account is overdrawn by $2,000. I have two maxed out credit cards, and now after last night I owe my friend/ bookie another $1500 on Monday. I do not sleep anymore, I barely eat, my moods are constantly dependent on my bets. I take my frustrations out on the ppl I love the most. After reading everyone’s posts on this thread I think I am ready to finally leave this all behind me. I’m done chasing my losses. I need to accept the fact that I’m in a huge hole and I need to be and adult and work my way out of it. I am going to come clean to my girlfriend tomorrow before she returns to school, I want her to hear it from me and not my friends. I am ready to take the first step to recovery but I need your help.
How can I block gambling out of my life, every time I watch tv/ listen to the radio it’s another commercial about a gambling site offering a new promo to entice people to join. Every time I hangout with my friends they are talking about what games they are betting on, every my own brothers have began to sports gamble. Every where I turn gambling is being shoved in my face, the adds on my social media’s are all about gambling. The people in my life who gamble have more self control then me. I need to stop but I cant avoid it. I don’t know what to do and I could really use some advise because I’m at the end of the line here. If I can’t give this up I don’t know what I’m going to do. Gambling has destroyed my reputation, friendships, relationships, my finances, my happiness, my sleep, my weight, I have given everything I have to gambling. I simply have nothing left to give....

1965 Ice Box Murders of Frederick & Edwina Rogers

Long time lurker, first time poster.
Before I begin.. I have never done a write up on here before, so, if I am lacking anything, welp, please be gentle. There are a bunch of pictures in the various articles linked below.
An elderly couple hadn't answered their phone in three days and their nephew, Marvin Marlin, was growing increasingly concerned. Marvin decided to go to their home but found the house was all locked up and the blinds drawn closed. He had no way to check on his aunt and uncle, so he called the police and requested a welfare check.
On June 23, 1965, Houston police officers accompanied Marvin to the home of the elderly couple. When there was no answer, they kicked the door in. Inside there was no sign of the couple or their son.
The house was a little messy, but according to Marvin, his aunt and uncle were not the neatest of people. What did seem odd was the moldy dinner on the table and the smell of rot coming from the 3-by-5 electric refrigerator in the kitchen.
After opening the freezer, police noticed the stacks and stacks of butchered hog meat.
The officers realized what they were dealing with after opening the crisper to find two human heads.
"On all the shelves and in the freezer compartment were the dismembered bodies, cut in unwrapped, washed off pieces smaller than individual joints. There was little food in the icebox."
"Whoever did this apparently took their time and knew what they were doing. The dismembering was a fairly neat job."
Edwina Rogers, 79, had been beaten and shot execution style. The killer had smashed in 81 year old Fred Rogers' head with a hammer, gouging out his eyes and removing his organs. Both were dragged to the master bedroom, drained of blood, chopped into pieces, and placed in the fridge. The organs were later found in a nearby sewer - the killer had chopped them up and flushed them down the toilet.
The house had been carefully cleaned, the only blood was discovered on the keyhole of a bedroom door. The bedroom belonged to the couples' son, 43 year old son Charles Rogers.
It was estimated that the Rogers' had been dead for three days, meaning they were murdered on Father's Day, June 20, 1965.
Charles was a recluse who only communicated with his parents via notes slipped under his bedroom door and rarely seen by neighbors.
The police never got the chance to speak with Charles, who, despite a nationwide manhunt, was never seen or heard from again. He was declared legally dead in 1975 by a Houston judge.
Charles Frederick Rogers was 43 years old and said to be extremely intelligent and with an intense interest in ham radios. He spoke several languages and had a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear physics. He had been a pilot for the US Navy during WWII and served in the Office of Naval Intelligence.
Upon discharge, he became a seismologist for Shell Oil Company. At some point in the 1950's, Charles is said to have been involved in the Civil Air Patrol where he met David Ferrie - a man later accused of being involved in the plot to assassinate President John F. Kennedy.
After 9 years with Shell, Charles inexplicably quit his job without explanation and moved in with his parents, but they rarely ever saw their son. Charles turned into a loner and recluse living in the attic bedroom.
After the murders of Fred & Edwina, an international manhunt commenced in search of Charles. Most of the Rogers' neighbors were shocked to learn they had a son at all. Those who knew about Charles, like his cousin Marvin, said Charles rarely left the house, but when he did it become dawn and he would not return until after dark.

In 1992, John R. Craig & Phillip A. Rogers documented Charles' life in the book The Man on the Grassy Knoll.
In it, the authors - who were investigators for the National Intelligence Service Bureau - claim that Charles was a CIA agent until the mid 1980's. They accuse Charles of being one of the men who assassinated President John F. Kennedy, and of impersonating Lee Harvey Oswald in Mexico City. They say Charles was 1 of the "three tramps", along with Charles Harrelson [father of actor Woody Harrelson] and Chauncey Holt, who were arrested in Dealey Plaza after the assassination of Kennedy.
The authors also claim that this is why Charles had to kill his parents, Edwina was listening to and keeping track of Charles' CIA phone calls. The elderly couple knew too much and needed to be killed.
According to the Man on the Grassy Knoll, Charles fled to Guatemala, where he likely died of old age. The book has been heavily criticized for its complete lack of sources and blatantly fictionalized accounts of certain events, conversations and attributed thoughts.

In 1997, forensic accountant Hugh Gardenier and his wife, Martha, began investigating the crime themselvers. They wrote their own book detailing their theories, The Ice Box Murders.
In the book, they acknowledge that Charles had dealings with CIA contract workers while he was a seismologist for Shell, but they completely reject the notion that Charles was a CIA agent himself who needed to dismember his parents after they overheard his not so secret/secret phone calls from the attic about killing Kennedy.
Instead, the Gardeniers believe Charles was emotionally and physically abused as a child, and as an adult, by his father. Which, you know, cutting off his father's genitals on Father's Day, might confirm that a bit.
They also claim that near the end of their life, Edwina and Fred were both defrauding their son, forging his signature on deeds of land he owned, and taking out loans in his name and pocketing the money. The Gardeniers label Fred and Edwina "devious con artists." They say Fred worked as a bookie, regularly engaging in gambling and fraud, stealing large sums of money from Charles and continuing to physically abuse the grown man.
The Gardeniers claim Charles had been planning his parents' death for years and used his "powerful friends", whom he had met through his ham radio hobby while working in the oil industry, to flee to Mexico. They theorize Charles eventually ended up in Honduras where he experienced some cosmic karma when he was killed over a wage dispute with miners.
The Ice Box Murders has been called "a work of fact based fiction."

Hey everyone! I've been really geeking out on finding problems that I think could be turned into meaningful businesses. I'm sharing all my ideas here if you're interested. Here's what I've been thinking about lately -

Keeping track of betting lines is a pain

“I love sports betting but it’s hard to keep track of the betting odds on all the different betting apps. I’ve created a spreadsheet and do it manually, but I still need to search through all the sites to get the information. I’d definitely pay for something that did this automatically.” - Anonymous sports better seeking a solution.
Market Background/Opportunity Size:
Changes in sports betting law have created amazing entrepreneurial opportunities! It's like the goldrush here given how young this market is and how quickly things are changing in the US.
On May 14, 2018, the United States supreme court ruled the federal law prohibiting states from authorizing sports betting, protection act PASPA, unconstitutional. It is now up to individual states to decide if they want to authorize and regulate sports betting in their state. 18 states have fully legalized sports betting with 4 more passing bills just this year to legalize it (they aren’t operational yet).
Even though less than half of the US has legalized sports betting, the market cap was sitting pretty at $104.41 billion and expected to reach $155.49 billion by 2024 (this is an estimate, it was tough to nail down). This market is much larger if you include other global players like the UK, Australia, etc… who have already legalized sports betting. It’s clear that trends for this industry are going in the right direction and there’s still a strong opportunity for the first-mover advantage to take place.

The Opportunity:
As mentioned above, there is a huge problem with keeping track of all the different betting lines that exist - resulting in many people (unsuccessfully) using a spreadsheet. Here’s an article that explains why tracking betting lines is important.
The TL;DR is this, placing your bet on a site that has the most favorable odds results in you getting the highest return on that investment. Most people are doing one of these two things:

Nothing. Rather than checking to see where they can get the best returns, they are just using their core betting app and taking the odds they are given. Depending on the bet size, that leaves hundreds of dollars on the table.
Manually tracking the odds each betting site is offering and compiling the odds in a spreadsheet. This results in a lot of time spent switching between sites and transposing numbers.

How to Get Your First 10 Customers:

Define Your Early Adopter: Your TAM is anyone who participates in sports betting, but I’d focus your efforts on finding people who acutely experience this pain. People who are spending a lot of time and money on sports betting have the most to lose. More specifically, hunt for people who’ve already created solutions to this problem themselves - like those using homegrown spreadsheets.
Look for CDIs: When looking for channels to find potential users I ask myself “where do my potential customers hang out?”. In this case, I’d look at online communities like Sports Book and Sports Betting subreddits. By simply asking the question, “How do you track betting lines?” you’ll be able to start conversations with potential users about unmet needs.
Create an Online Ad: I’d next test an offer to see if you can acquire potential users to sign up for your service. This can be as simple as creating a landing page (using marketing language from the conversations above) and run a paid ad to your target audience to collect emails.
Build a Wizard of Oz Test: Now that you have a list from running the ad above, I’d see if you can monetize it. Contact people and charge a small fee to run a small wizard of oz test - you could manually pull lines based on the bets they're watching and send it to them in a daily email. Or, there’s likely a no-code tool you could use to scrape the data from existing sites and organize it for them.

I can see a freemium model working for this as well, so you may not need to monetize immediately. One great option would be to charge the bookmakers a fee for every bet you send to their platform.
Challenges:

Is there a problem worth solving? Although this idea logically makes sense, there are flags raised because no company has solved the problem yet. Typically, you can validate some form of demand based on market signals or other competitors, but this seems like a blue ocean (both a good and bad thing). Follow the plan above and you should be able to tell quickly if you’re on the right track.
Can you build it? The technology to create a product as this exists. That said, it may be difficult to pull data from the major bookmaker’s sites. The fact that Smart Lines doesn’t work with any of the major bookmakers left me scratching my head and wondering why.
Legal Challenges? Sports betting is highly regulated like most industries that are birthed from law changes. Even being associated with this space is likely going to create some challenges. I'm not an expert in this space, so it's hard to say exactly what legal challenges may arise, but getting accessing other bookmaker's data and facilitating the betting process are two great places to start your investigation.

Additional Opportunities:
There appears to be no shortage of companies trying to become the next big bookmakers. But, there’s plenty of opportunities this burgeoning market has opened up beyond just being a bookie. With this market in its infancy, you can bet (pun 100% intended) that there’s going to be a lot of room to expand your offerings. Whether it be sports betting tips, predictions, tools or even becoming a bookie yourself, there’s money to be made here.
While doing research on this, I found many people are struggling with keeping track of their bets and recording their results. This could be an easy addition to a solution to tracking betting lines. Here’s what some people said -

Choosing the Best Sportsbook

An explanation and analysis of The Watto-Qui-Gon Bet

No event in the history of the Galaxy has had as singular an impact, or is more widely misunderstood, than the Watto-Qui-Gon Boonta Eve Classic podrace bet of 32 BBY. The consequences of this bet would echo forward through time for almost a century, affecting trillions of lives and altering history in uncountable ways. When the Death Star burned in space above Endor, or Rose sexually harassed Finn in the shattered ruins of an airspeeder, the Watto-Qui-Gon bet was to blame. When, decades later and thousands of lightyears away, Poe Dameron declared 'Somehow Palpatine returned', it was the end of a chain of events that began with the Watto-Qui-Gon bet. When Poe Dameron himself farted at a wedding, we must ultimately blame the Watto-Qui-Gon bet. When Jyn Erso watched the hundred-gigaton fireball of the Death Star's superlaser engulf her, or Din Djarin watched his parents cut down by battle droids, it was the Watto-Qui-Gon bet exerting its long influence on history. No surprise, then, that the Watto-Qui-Gon bet has been discussed and debated by scholars ever since. Almost all of them failed to realise that what occurred was actually 4 interconnected bets, three of which represent criminal fraud on behalf of Qui-Gon.

The widely known 'first bet' between Watto and Qui-Gon - Qui-Gon and Watto both bet with a third party (the 'pod-race bookies') that Anakin will win the podrace, with Qui-Gon offering his ship as collateral should they lose and fronting a pod which he claims to have 'acquired in a game of chance'. This is a lie - the Pod was built in Watto's workshop by Watto's slave and is therefore already Watto's property. As such, Qui-Gon is defrauding Watto by fronting an asset already owned by Watto as his portion of the bet. They arrange to split the winnings should they win.
Watto's off-screen bet with a third party (the 'pod-race bookies', and may or may not be the same bookies as bet 1). This is a bet that Sebulba will win the podrace, and Watto has 'bet everything on Sebulba' (presumably excluding the money he fronted for bet 1) because 'he [Sebulba] always wins'
Qui-Gon responds to 2 with 'I'll take that bet'. He compounds the fraud in bet 1 by betting the pod Watto already owns against the freedom of one of Watto's slaves (see below). Because Qui-Gon is offering to bet against Watto, this is a bet that Sebulba will not win the podrace
To decide, conditional on Sebulba not winning, which slave will be freed, Watto rolls a chance cube. Qui-Gon compounds his two previous instances of criminal fraud by telekinetically influencing the cube to land on blue (Anakin) instead of red (Shmi)

Most interesting, and neglected, is the counterfactual where neither Anakin nor Sebulba win the podrace. This option has been ignored by almost all Watto-Qui-Gon-bet scholarship in the decades since 32 BBY, but is actually a priori the most likely outcome. It would have resulted in Watto losing almost all of his money to the pod-race bookies, while Qui-Gon freed either Anakin or Shmi (most likely Anakin, considering his fraudulent telekinetic influence on the chance cube), and exchanged a non-functional Naboo cruiser for a podracer that was not his to bet in the first place. One can only speculate on how galactic history might have played out if a freed Anakin, Obi Wan and Qui-Gon were stranded together on Tatooine with only a half-functional podracer to their name.
EDIT: Several commenters have pointed out some potential problems with accusing Qui-Gon of fraud - that according to local law slaves might be able to own property, or that Republic law outlaws slavery, meaning that the pod is Anakins. According to a former Law PhD student I just spoke to, neither argument fully holds water. For the first (local Mos Espa/Tatooine law), in a common law system like the UK or US (and which I'll assume the Republic is as well, since it has many of the same characteristics), you can have multiple people with the relevant property rights when issues of theft or fraud arise - you can steal or defraud multiple people. So the fact that Anakin owned the pod does not mean that Watto didn't also have a claim to it, even if slaves could own property under local law.
In the case when you're applying Republic law and Watto is a criminal who doesn't own Anakin, the issue is murky. My source doesn't know of any relevant precedent, but Watto would have an equitable claim to the pod since he fed and clothed Anakin and provided him with lodging and raw materials. That's probably enough that you could call what Qui-Gon did Fraud against Watto. There's also the issue that Anakin maybe lacks the capacity to provide legal consent to Qui-Gon's scheme to trick Watto into thinking the pod was his.

DKNG - Fundamental DD Part II - DKNG

Warning: Wall of Text. If you hate reading just skim through the bolded/italicized
Ever since I publicized my findings on DKNG, the stock has underperformed & probably has fucked a lot of people here, especially given the overly bullish stance back in June. Unless you took my advice & got into Puts then, congrats, welcome to tendie town. For the ADHD retards, here’s what the next wall of text is going to summarize: I believe at the current price of ~$30, the stock is oversold.
A tech-focused, high-growth Company that has made sports betting easy to understand with an aesthetically pleasing interface similar to how Robinhood has neatly laid out stock market gimmicks so even high-schoolers can make sense of it I believe, is underpriced at these levels.
Let’s get into some details as to why the stock has underperformed:
First off, the news slate revolving sports with the rumored delay/cancellation of the MLB season & the NFL watching from the sidelines is in my view, just a part of why the stock has underperformed. We’ll revisit this later in this post, but I want to focus on the drivers of the stock’s recent underperformance, & why these factors are now in the rearview mirror.
Part I – The Past Has Passed – SPAC-related Equity Dilution
History lesson first: DKNG went public via a SPAC merger, which has exploded in popularity recently. Anyone serious about analyzing stocks going forward needs to do their homework on this, Google is your friend.
A feature of most SPAC merger to public listings that creates a headwind to near-term share prices are embedded equity dilution events, usually in the form of earn-outs (stock bonuses to execs, the SPAC sponsor) & conversion of Warrants.
On 5/24, the earn-outs were triggered, adding 6m shares to the share count.
On 6/26, 16.3m warrants converted to DKNG, netting them ~$188m of cash.
Stepping back a little, in addition to the above, on 6/18 DKNG launched a follow-on equity offering of 16M shares @ $40/Share [1], receiving $621M in proceeds.
The last part is tricky to understand from a dilution perspective. To simplify, historically it’s almost a coin toss whether a Company’s shares outperform on the onset of an equity offering. While issuing shares does dilute the existing shareholder base, it theoretically shouldn’t, if the proceeds from the offering are earmarked for investments/projects that yield outsized returns. This is the reality for the long term, theory for the short-term. For the short-term, the ‘reality’ isn’t that the proceeds will be used for investments/projects that yield outsized returns, it is more about how convincing management is to investors that the investments they intend to pursue with the proceeds will outweigh the dilutive effects of issuing incremental shares. That’s a mouthful, but hopefully you get what I’m trying to convey.
All of this stuff put together – the Company has increased its share count by ~39M, but now has a whopping ~$1.4Bn of cash [2]. More on this in the next section.
Part II – MLB News Should Not Fucking Matter & DKNG Is Positioned As the Leading Online/Mobile Sports Platform
DKNG should not be so tied to MLB news or any of this shit as the ongoing success of the NBA/NHL season + Soccer in Europe has effectively created a blueprint on how to regulate player behavior so that they maintain professionalism amidst the pandemic. I’m going out on a whim here, but I truly think the MLB threatening a cancellation of the season is pure posturing to get these fuckers to behave appropriately. Maybe a ‘bubble’ is what it takes to get these players to focus on their jobs instead of going out & contracting COVID, but I argue that isn’t necessarily required given Soccer in Europe. So there’s already a proven path here without the need for a bubble in Soccer, so MLB/NFL should be fine, and execs need to study how they got it done in Europe. Okay, back to some facts.
Anecdotally, I’ve kept in touch with a handful of sports bookies from California to New York & even internationally about what they’re seeing – all of them say that since the NBA season started on 7/30 & since Soccer (especially the Premier League) resumed in June, along with other leagues like La Liga & Serie A, they’ve seen massive increases in betting.
These numbers are also showing up in the official data [3]:

Average % increase in sports betting handle from April 2020 to June 2020 (handle is the total $ wagered in sports bets) from the states that reported up to June 2020 (NJ, PA, MS, RI, WV, IA, IN, NH) of +258%!
- Note: NV is left out due to the site I sourced showing a weirdly negative number – so I dug into the official filings & show specifically, Sports Mobile betting growth from June since April has growing by at least +73% [4]

REMEMBER: This is for June only! No NBA, No NHL, No MLB, just Soccer, Golf, NASCAR & UFC.
The data clearly shows that there was a ton of pent-up sports betting demand, which leads one Wall St. analyst to think that betting on the NBA/NHL could ABSORB the MLB’s sports betting handle (handle = total $ size of sports bet) [5]. Remember, the MLB season is still ongoing, with games being played. The entire focus is on the Miami Marlins & St. Louis Cardinals. Fucking retards.
Additionally, I want to remind everyone that DraftKings.com is the #1 Fantasy sports website in the U.S. [6]. Also, since April 2020 site visitations are up +86% [7] & Google Search Trends for “Draft Kings” is up ~3x compared to PRE-COVID levels [8]. What does this mean? They are piquing more people’s curiosity than prior to COVID/ongoing slate of sports.
This is important because remember that ~$1.4Bn chest full of cash I mentioned DKNG had assembled earlier? Well, that money is being put to work & results are already coming in, which is exactly what DKNG intended to do with it.
Part III – Legalization of Sports Betting in the U.S.
I could write a fucking bible on this topic alone, but for now we’ll stick to some basics. Due to COVID, it’s easy to understand that each State’s financial situation is clearly in shit. Because of this, you better believe that these guys are going to start taking a hard look at how they can extract additional tax revenues, & what’s one of the easiest ways to do this? Legalization & taxation of gambling.
The big players: CA, TX, FL & NY. First, CA pushing its legislation out to 2023 was fucked up, but here’s a twist I want to add to this: Anything that has to do with gambling in CA you better believe is lobbied against by not just the Tribal casino owners in CA, but by the deep pockets of Las Vegas money. Similar thing can be said for FL, but let’s take a look at some actions by LV/nationwide gambling companies that are starting to align financial incentives with guys like DKNG.

MGM / GVC Holdings JV in BetMGM - $450m total invested
PENN invests $163m into BS Sports
Caesars has a 20% stake in William Hill plus partnership deals with The Stars Group (TSG) & our winner DKNG for operating its sports books

So it’s safe to say going forward, nationwide legalization of sports betting will reap rewards for everyone involved, & no longer be something LV money is completely focused on safeguarding.
Let’s also not forget that DKNG didn’t become the Company they are today because of their fancy app, but because their management team has a HISTORY of navigating the U.S.’s legal framework to get what they want out of it.

The Crown Jewel – The Internet Gambling Prohibition & Enforcement Act: I said it in a previous post, but I want to emphasize that them getting Fantasy Sports to be labeled a ‘game of skill’ by FEDERAL Law as opposed to gambling is just something for the history books. Fucking genius shit. When this happened I bet every casino from LV to every Indian Tribe that has one was against it, yet DKNG & other DFS providers won.
There’s more, but more recently: Getting into IL:
- In IL, there’s an 18-month ‘penalty box’ for Companies that offer DFS to offer sports betting. Our guys at DKNG created a workaround to this situation with their partnership with Casino Queen [9]. DKNG being savvy again.

These guys are at the cutting edge of creating legal frameworks to successfully launch their products & now with more of their ‘competitors’ financially aligned with them, combined with financial deterioration of State budgets, we should see an overweighting of good news vs. bad on the legal front.

After the Trump administration nailed every other aspect of the pandemic response with flying colors, it may come as a shock to learn that its plan to distribute vaccines to hundreds of millions of Americans leaves something to be desired. Specifically, vaccines.

After Operation Warp Speed spent billions of dollars to hasten the development of coronavirus vaccines, 31 countries around the world have reserved more vaccine doses per capita than the U.S. It’s like ordering an elaborate cup of coffee and then walking out of Starbucks without it, except, you know, people will die. Incomprehensibly, this was a deliberate choice: Pfizer offered the Trump administration the chance to reserve more doses over the summer (“hey man, you forgot your coffee”), the Trump administration took a pass, and Pfizer now can’t guarantee another round of supplies until June.
FDA approval for the Pfizer vaccine—which will launch the deliveries of 6.4 million initial doses (enough to vaccinate 3.2 million people)—could come as soon as this week; in the meantime, Americans are stuck watching the U.K. and Canada sail towards national immunity like the D.W. meme. Authorization for the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, of which the U.S. has reserved 300 million doses, will be more delayed: AstraZeneca lost credibility with U.S. regulators when it failed to disclose a pause in clinical trials, and scientists have criticized the lack of transparency around its data. The vaccine is definitely safe and viable, but its efficacy rate is still unclear (especially among older adults), and that means we’ll have to wait.
When vaccines do get approved, it would be nice if states were ready to distribute them as quickly as possible, no? To paraphrase GOP leaders, “eh.” Congress has yet to appropriate any funds for vaccine distribution, which means cash-strapped local public health departments are left to both plan mass vaccination programs and somehow scrape together the money to hire enough staff to implement them. HHS has doled out around $340 million to the states for vaccine distribution; state officials say they need more like $8.4 billion, and needed it weeks ago.

Even in a delay-free world, the coronavirus task force warned on Tuesday, the vaccine program wouldn’t substantially reduce the spread of coronavirus until late spring.

No big deal to Donald Trump, who yesterday shared this psychopathic opinion on the percentage of Americans who have contracted coronavirus: “I hear we're close to 15 percent. I'm hearing that, and that's terrific.” A somewhat bigger deal for the third of Americans who live in areas where hospitals have run critically low on available ICU beds, and who don’t have access to the experimental Rich Old Man drugs that are apparently available almost exclusively to Donald Trump’s friends and keeping Rudy Giuliani tethered to his repulsive mortal coil.
In light of that, it would be nice if the government were to give people money to stay home and slow the spread, no? To paraphrase GOP leaders, “go fuck yourselves.” The U.S. is alone among wealthy Western countries in not providing material help to people during the winter surge, for the very simple reason that the party that currently runs our government is insane. In a sign that another stimulus package isn’t exactly imminent, the White House suggested adding a one-time $600 stimulus check to its discussion draft, but only in exchange for gutting enhanced unemployment benefits. Millions of Americans are at risk of eviction! Canada is paying jobless workers $2000 a month! There’s just no excuse!

It stands to reason that the Trump administration’s demonstrated indifference to saving American lives would hobble the vaccine effort, and we can fully expect Republicans to turn around on January 20 and try to blame the ensuing delays and deaths on Joe Biden. No one should give them the time of day. Hard as they might try to wipe it on to Biden’s hands, the blood is on theirs.

Define Your Early Adopter: Your TAM is anyone who participates in sports betting, but I’d focus your efforts on finding people who acutely experience this pain. People who are spending a lot of time and money on sports betting have the most to lose. More specifically, hunt for people who’ve already created solutions to this problem themselves - like those using homegrown spreadsheets.
Look for CDIs: When looking for channels to find potential users I ask myself “where do my potential customers hang out?”. In this case, I’d look at online communities like Sports Book and Sports Betting subreddits. By simply asking the question, “How do you track betting lines?” you’ll be able to start conversations with potential users about unmet needs.
Create an Online Ad: I’d next test an offer to see if you can acquire potential users to sign up for your service. This can be as simple as creating a landing page (using marketing language from the conversations above) and run a paid ad to your target audience to collect emails.
Build a Wizard of Oz Test: Now that you have a list from running the ad above, I’d see if you can monetize it. Contact people and charge a small fee to run a small wizard of oz test - you could manually pull lines based on the bets they're watching and send it to them in a daily email. Or, there’s likely a no-code tool you could use to scrape the data from existing sites and organize it for them.

Is there a problem worth solving? Although this idea logically makes sense, there are flags raised because no company has solved the problem yet. Typically, you can validate some form of demand based on market signals or other competitors, but this seems like a blue ocean (both a good and bad thing). Follow the plan above and you should be able to tell quickly if you’re on the right track.
Can you build it? The technology to create a product as this exists. That said, it may be difficult to pull data from the major bookmaker’s sites. The fact that Smart Lines doesn’t work with any of the major bookmakers left me scratching my head and wondering why.
Legal Challenges? Sports betting is highly regulated like most industries that are birthed from law changes. Even being associated with this space is likely going to create some challenges. I'm not an expert in this space, so it's hard to say exactly what legal challenges may arise, but getting accessing other bookmaker's data and facilitating the betting process are two great places to start your investigation.

Additional Opportunities:
There appears to be no shortage of companies trying to become the next big bookmakers. But, there’s plenty of opportunities this burgeoning market has opened up beyond just being a bookie. With this market in its infancy, you can bet (pun 100% intended) that there’s going to be a lot of room to expand your offerings. Whether it be sports betting tips, predictions, tools or even becoming a bookie yourself, there’s money to be made here.
While doing research on this, I found many people are struggling with keeping track of their bets and recording their results. This could be an easy addition to a solution to tracking betting lines. Here’s what some people said -

"Man, midnight shift again. Ready for another boring night of front gate duty?" The young Sekhama greeted his partner at the watch house outside the main palace gate.
"What are you complaining about? We get to sit here where there aren't any bullets flying, maybe see a nice car or two, go home in one piece."
"Seriously man? Everyone who took out the Trang'aul yesterday is probably still in the harem! You're telling me you don't want in on that?"
"And they're lucky they came back at all, kid. You got a problem, take it up with the commander. I don't get paid to listen to green wild dogs whine. Besides, looks like the harem is coming to you tonight." The gruff hyena gestured to the palace approach where three figures were walking towards the gate.
"What the fuck man, she's got two kids with her."
"Since when did virgins get choosy? Go deal with it."
"Why do you think she's here?"
"Same reason they all are. Tell her this ain't a fucking charity and if she gets uppity, flash your gun. Man I ain't got time for this shit after all that with Torando."
The wild dog left his grouchy partner in the gatehouse, stepping out onto the road as the automated spotlights fixed on the woman and the two children with her. Her cloak couldn't hide what she was. It looked like she and the children were carrying everything to their name with them. It wasn't much. "I hate this part of the job," the young Sekhama muttered before raising his voice. "Miss I'm sorry, this is a restricted area. I'm going to have to ask you to leave."
Fear lanced through Savannah's heart as she tried to calm herself. After washing and leaving the Oasis she'd sprinted home and woken her children, constantly repeating the words Keiko had spoken to her. She'd contemplated going to the palace without them first, but the Oro knew where she lived. They knew everything about her. She couldn't risk leaving her children. The whole way to the palace grounds, the shining beacon in the heart of the capitol, she'd been terrified. She constantly checked over her shoulder, convinced something or someone was following her. No one had cut her down in a hail of magicka, but now she had a massive metal gate and two armed men to get past.
"I…I need to see the captain. Idris?" She stumbled, afraid to look too long at the young dog before her. She faintly recalled a couple mnyama boys his age she'd broken in together. It had paid for her next meal at least. His face was still innocent.
"Mama?" Her young son called out.
"Shhh now baby, it's going to be alright," she assured him. "Please sir, I have to see the captain. I have a message from the princess."
The wild dog sighed, looking long at her human-like eyes. They were unsettling with that spotlight on them as they pleaded with him. "Look lady, if I had a credit for every time some urchin claimed to know something about the royal family-"
"The golden light still dawns over Alhamkara!" Savannah gasped. "Please, my babies!"
"What the hell's taking so long, Spot? Just tell her to fuck off!" Bruce's voice came from behind him, the hyena stalking up to survey the situation.
"I tried, Bruce, but she insists it's something about her majesty, started saying some weird line."
"So what is it, girl? You've come to turn yourself in for illegal body modification?" Bruce asked Savannah directly, glaring down at her. "You better start talking. Do I look like a hyena with time for bullshit?"
"The golden light still dawns over Alhamkara," Savannah cried, eyes full of fear as the Sekhama rested his hand on his pistol.
"You see, Bruce? What the hell is she-" The young wild dog stopped short as he looked at his partner's grizzled face.
"Spot, you turn around and don't stop sprinting until you find the Commander. You bring him here now. You understand me?"
"Are you serious?" Spot asked, looking between the woman and his partner.
"Now, private!" Bruce barked, causing Savannah's son to begin crying as Spot tore off for the palace. "Man, fuck this shit," Bruce muttered.
"Jace, you have to be brave for mommy," Savannah's older child insisted, hugging her brother. The hyena looked ready to call it quits then and there.
"I have no idea where you heard that phrase, lady, but you best be hoping you've got something real juicy to tell Octavia. Otherwise you're going somewhere worse than wherever it is you came from," Bruce promised. "Inside the guardhouse, now."

Idris Octavia had had better nights. The princess was still missing. He'd not seen hide nor hair, not even a rumour after he and his men destroyed the Trang'aul. The king was breathing down his neck, the queen was distraught, Torando was being a right prick now that he wasn't threatening war, and worst of all he didn't even have mnyama scum to kill that particular evening. At least it's something to do other than reading stale intel, he thought, following calmly after Spot as the aptly nicknamed wild dog led him from the Sekhama annex of the palace to the front guardhouse, claiming that some street girl had shown up with knowledge of one of the royal family's code phrases.
Stepping inside the small station, he found Bruce in his usual grumpy mood along with a cheetah...he supposed calling her a lady of the night was as generous as he could get, and her two children. The lion stood tall and addressed them.
"You're the one who claims to have information regarding the princess?" He demanded in a level tone.
"Y-yes. My name is Savannah," she replied quietly.
"Tell me what you told them."
"The golden light still dawns over Alhamkara," Savannah complied with shaking voice, kneeling on the floor and holding her children to her. Idris nodded.
"You scanned them, Bruce?"
"Yeah boss, they're clean. Confiscated this credit chit. Girl couldn't have had it legally. Way too much on here," Bruce reported, extending it hesitantly as Idris held out a giant paw. The lion's eyes sent a shudder through him.
"Why do all three of them look traumatized, Bruce? I don't have to remind you that Princess Keiko is missing, do I? I need good intel, not whatever some street girl thinks is going to help keep her children alive!" The captain growled, his mane lending him a far more imposing presence than Bruce could hope to match, to say nothing of the rank differential. The hyena brought his heels together in a salute.
"No excuses, sir."
"Then you stay right here and enjoy the rest of your night, Bruce," Idris ordered quietly. "Spot?"
"Yes sir!"
"Can I ask you to assist me with a bit of...babysitting?" The captain requested, throwing the private a small smile.
The wild dog looked at Savannah's children. They looked back at him. He smiled. They eventually smiled back at him. "Yeah, I think I can do that, sir."
"Good. Savannah, I'd like you to come with me, please. Did he take anything else belonging to you?"
"N-no, sir," Savannah confirmed, standing slowly and not meeting his eyes. "Jace, Keiko, come now," she said quietly, giving the little ones a push as Idris turned and led the way out the back of the guardhouse and into the palace grounds. Savannah looked to the moon and sky as the towering sandstone buildings of the compound came into full view. She'd made it to the other side of the wall. Her bosom swelled with hope. Thank you, Lady Keiko!
"Hey now, I said you have to hold my hand!" Spot said, snatching Jace by the back of his shirt as the little one tried to run off into the palace grounds. The Sekhama didn't blame him. Other than the vehicle path and a few walkways, the entirety of the open space within the walls was filled with fascinations. Fountains carved of roughhewn rock fed ponds of koi and other fish. Trees of all shapes and sizes, tropical and savannah, sheltered colorful birds and chirping tamarins. Parapets, walls, and walkways lined the area, all lit with a combination of bright flood lights, lanterns, and torches.
"Jace, you have to behave or they'll send us away," the little Keiko scolded her brother. Spot's face fell. He wanted to reassure them but their fate was out of his hands. Their mother was a criminal and he was neither judge nor jury, just an executioner. The woman in question walked in front of him, next to the captain. The young Sekhama, from his vantage point, now realized that Savannah's modifications didn't end at her eyes and chest. Without her tail he could see every contour of the woman's rear, even under her cloak. He coughed roughly and refocused on the children attached to his hands.
"So your name is Keiko?" He asked the young cheetah girl. She smiled at him.
"Yep! Just like the princess! Does my mommy really know lady Keiko? She wouldn't say."
Idris smiled sadly and glanced behind him as Spot tried to respond to the innocent curiosity of a child. There was the law to consider, not to mention the woman's blasphemous attempt at imitating the human form, but there was also Keiko. The princess was alive, and had apparently chosen an underground whore to send a message. He was honor bound to listen, and in the event the woman was truthful, to treat her as one of Keiko's own. What in the name of humanity are you up to, my lady?
Savannah looked up as she was escorted into the barracks of the Sekhama, their sigil carved into the stone above the door frame. The interior, contrary to the classical exterior of the palace, was eminently modern in steel and artificial light. Every angle was covered by a camera, and she saw directions to the sleeping quarters, armory, and mess hall on the walls around her. A door on their right slid open. She could see a well-kept office full of weapons, armor, security feeds, terminals, files, and an ebony desk in the center of the organized chaos. The large lion looked down at her. "Will your children be alright alone for an hour or so?"
Savannah nodded and dropped to her knees to address the young ones. "Jace, Keiko, I need to speak with this man alone, alright?"
"Is he going to pay you? The scary landlady came by yesterday." Jace's innocent question rendered Savannah speechless as Spot looked anywhere but at her. Keiko was looking at her mother with sad eyes. Idris didn't seem surprised, however. He took a knee and addressed the young boy.
"Your mother has something very important to tell me, young man. We're just going to talk."
"But...if mommy doesn't get paid then-" Jace began, fear clouding his eyes as his young mind barely scraped the surface of the underbelly of Alhamkara.
"Do you know what I do for a living, young man?" The lion asked kindly.
"No."
"I kill bad people. And sometimes I get to protect innocent people. Spot does too. Tonight he's going to protect you. I will speak to you again. Do you understand?"
"Mommy is a good person," Jace pleaded, looking at the commander's holstered sidearm.
"I know. Will you be a good boy for Spot? He's new and working nights."
"Yes, I can be good," the boy promised.
"Good," the lion smiled, resting a paw gently on the cheetah's shoulder. "Spot, take them to the mess. Get them something to eat and drink. We'll come find you."
"Yes, Captain. Come on you two. Wanna see where I eat?"
Idris watched as Spot led the two children down the hall and around the corner. "Now then, I believe it's time we had a little talk," he said seriously, turning to find the cheetah on the verge of tears. He extended the credit chit to her. "You can't hide the truth from him forever."
"What kind of son wants a whore for a mother?" She whispered, obediently following the captain of the Sekhama into his office and taking a seat in an unremarkable chair. The Captain sat and looked her over critically.
"Take the cloak off," he ordered, watching as Savannah stood and revealed herself, her body clad in a well-worn dress too small for her augmented breasts. "I'm sorry, but you can never be too careful in my line of work. Scanners always miss something. You can't fight what you can't see."
"I assure you I'm only here to deliver Lady Keiko's words," she replied, keeping her eyes on his desk.
"Convince me of that and your son won't have to grow up with a street whore for a mother. We take care of those who serve the crown faithfully. Start at the beginning. What's your name?"

"Your real name," he demanded, unimpressed.
"...Eina, sir."
"I prefer that," Idris said, at least as kindly as his battle worn voice would allow. "Now then, Eina, why did you amputate your tail and replace your eyes?"

"You're aware that this sort of modification for any reason other than a medical need is illegal, correct?"
"Yes."
"And you did it anyway."
"I have two growing children to feed. Even synth meat costs credits," Savannah said more confidently than she felt. The lion across the desk looked like he could literally snap her in two.

"And yet she's nowhere to be seen," he mused, glancing away from her. "Very well, Eina. You have my attention. Where did you encounter the princess?"
"The Oasis, my former place of work. It's an unregistered brothel and nightclub."
"Former?" Idris asked with interest.
"I can't go back there now."
"Why?"
"The Oro will kill me."
"Why? You stiff them for the surgery costs?"
"No. They take my body when they want. She killed one of them in front of me."
The silence that pervaded the office was absolute as Idris narrowed his eyes at her and purred the most threatening purr that Eina had ever heard in her life. A fire burned in his eyes that she'd never seen the like of. "You're saying that Lady Keiko, princess of Alhamkara who disappeared minutes before her wedding, walked into some sex and drug den and killed an Oro on her own?"
"Sir, she wasn't alone. She had help. It was a masked male, probably a mercenary. And it wasn't just an Oro, sir."
"It gets better?" Idris asked, cocking his head as Eina shuddered.
"It was the man who cut my tail. He was there to recoup some of the cost for-"
"Who was he, Eina?" Idris demanded. "I'm the Commander of the Sekhama, not a doctor or a bookie."
"Tennath. Oro's right hand."
"You swear on your life this information is true?" He growled.
"I swear it," Eina affirmed in a panicked voice. "She's a wild dog about my height. She had golden chains on an ear, a navel piercing in the shape of a teardrop with magicite in it, and she had these white sunbursts just below her eyes. She could form magitech weapons from nothing and killed him with a single shot. It fired some sort of round that didn't come out the other side. And it didn't do anything flashy like fire or ice. I've never seen anything like it. The man crippled him first, using a blade. He knew exactly where to cut." Eina gaped at the captain as he suddenly threw his head back and laughed boldly, a loud and rumbling noise that almost turned into a triumphant roar.
"That girl! She runs off and starts nailing mobsters and befriending strippers? I guess she wasn't ready to settle down with our esteemed Lord Torando, eh? There's more, I assume? What happened after the kill?"
Eina collected herself, flabbergasted that the chief of the palace's armed forces didn't seem surprised at all to hear about Keiko in such a manner. "Yes sir. She gave me a message. I used my lens to commit it all to memory."
"Then let's hear it."
"She's...not coming back yet, sir. But she's alive and well from what I've seen. She was unrestrained and had no wounds other than what looked like bandages on her wrists."
"So she was forcefully taken...but you said she was operating freely?" Idris pressed.
"It seemed that way, sir."
"And she used the all clear phrase, too. Damnit Lady Keiko, you could have left us a note. Sending this woman instead?" Idris complained to the ether.
"Shall I read it for you now?" Eina asked, a twinge of hurt in her voice. Idris nodded, privately acknowledging that using a faunum was much more secure than anything digital. "She said she is alive and well. She says that you should prepare to enact any of your anti-mnyama operations at a moment's notice. She says that if you don't have plans made for any particular gang that you should do so. She says she leaves it to your discretion when to act. And she says she's sorry she can't return yet," Eina finished sadly, remembering the princess' smile as she'd tipped her.
"Anything else?"
"Just orders for me, sir." Eina blushed and looked at her lap.
"I'll hear them."
"She told me to...repeat that phrase to one of the serving women of the palace, that I should get myself to a clinic of repute and that…"
Idris leaned back in his chair and cocked a brow as the cheetah fell silent. "And?"
"She said that I should undo my breast enhancement and that upon doing so if I'm in good health I should join the harem if I don't wish to take up a different job. She said her plants needed some water too. I'd hoped the little ones could maybe…" Eina trailed off as Idris began to laugh again, this one a low and subtle chuckle.
"Eina, that was definitely Lady Keiko. Not that I'd have entertained your story without it, but that little tale was more convincing than any passcode. She's right, by the way."
"I'm sorry?"
"Cheetahs look better with smaller tits," he asserted.
"Maybe in your world they do," Eina murmured.
"By my lady's command it's now your world, too. You've done her and me a great service tonight." Idris was ready for Eina's reaction, circling his desk calmly and wrapping an arm around the woman's shoulders as she collapsed to the floor in tears. Keiko had always been a believer in small victories. He was more than willing to credit her this one. "Alright Eina, that's it. It's over now. Let's get this all out before we grab your little ones, hmm?" Eventually her tears ran dry and he helped her to her feet. "Come with me, please. My lady seems to have given me a bit of homework, so to speak. I must turn you over to more capable hands than mine."
"Yours seem quite capable, sir," Eina murmured.
"Perhaps, but they are not tender hands and I sincerely doubt either of us are interested in the sort of evening where I enjoy your body without buying you dinner first. Eina, do you know why I pressed his lordship to permit my men to partake in some of the indulgences offered in the palace harem? Beyond espionage and the usual selfish reasons, of course."
"I don't, sir," she replied, wondering what the harem had to do with anything. He nodded to her.
"Because fighting for your country, or your crown, or even your princess isn't the same thing as fighting to get back to a warm pair of lips and a warmer pair of legs, if you catch my meaning."
"I believe I do, sir." The two of them had come to a stop just before the double doors that led to the galley. Idris pointed through the window to where Spot was trying to coax Jace down from a table and Keiko was politely sipping on a cup of juice.
"He's nineteen. Kid has been itching for a deployment since he earned his first urban combat simulation citation. We live somewhere between the police and the military, Eina. We cannot bring to bear the firepower of our nation's greatest weapons, especially in the densely populated slums, and we do not have the luxury of fighting on the open field. We fight in the worst of both worlds. When various wealthy businessmen, landowners, and celebrities complained about sharing their decadent paradise with my men and the occasional woman, the Queen invited them all to an open casket funeral for one of my soldiers. I will not tell you who to lay with, Eina, or what to do with the freedom my lady has given you, but that boy couldn't keep his eyes off of you. If Lady Keiko is planning a war, he will find his way to the front."
Eina watched as the wild dog tentatively tried to grab her son around the waist, only to have the little feline slip from his grasp. Soon he was on the table as well with a smile on his face as little Keiko looked at them with smug disinterest. The young mother regarded the captain. "If I can, I will give him something real to return to. He has no one else? Surely..." She trailed off as Idris heaved a deep sigh.
"I would not ask you if he did. You will have my thanks, in that case. For now though I believe we should reign in our boys, yes?" Idris waved his hands and the doors to the mess hall slid open.
Spot froze, caught red handed in the act of behaving like a kid by his Commander. He looked down to see Jace pointing at him. "You little traitor, you started it."
"Mom, the Sekhama gave Jace coffee," Keiko said immediately, though all three of them fell silent as Eina tearful approached her children.
"Oh my babies," she whispered, taking them both into a hug.
"Do we have to go back now? I wanted to keep playing with Mr. Spot," Jace asked. Eina choked back her tears long enough to assure her son.
"The princess and the captain said we can stay, Jace. That means you and Keiko need to be on your best behavior and help with whatever is needed in the palace. Do you understand?"
Spot moved to stand beside Idris, feeling most uncomfortable at intruding on a family moment. He spoke quietly. "Orders, sir?"
"Take them all to the doc, run the caffeine out of that kid's system, you idiot, and then bring them to Lyria. When that's done, make sure your armor is in peak condition and your blades are thirsty."
"Sir?"
"Our Lady has set certain events in motion, Spot. We may be able to land another fish."
The young private was about to reply when a ball of yellow, spotted fluff impacted his leg. "Mr. Spot, mommy says I can stay! Can we go play with the monkeys?"
"Good luck, Spot. You brought this on yourself you know." Idris chuckled as he departed, his head already churning with feints and counters, ways to turn the smallest slip of a single gangster into the domino that would topple his entire organization. "Coffee to a cheetah. What the hell were you thinking?"
"It was the only way to stop him from crying," Spot muttered, reaching down to pick up the excitable boy. He turned to Savannah who was holding her daughter by the hand. "Miss, I have orders to escort you to the infirmary. Would you follow me, please?"
Eina looked up at his young, tender face, hoping when she next saw it he would still look like a boy. She smiled as his gaze held steady on her eyes, not roaming where so many other men were wont to travel. "Please, call me Eina."
