So you just moved here? [City edition]
First off, Welcome to the City limits of St. Louis. You're going to love it here but there may be some things that you may not be familiar with that may make you say, "WTF?" To help you avoid saying "WTF" I decided to create a (hopefully) useful guide on how to take care of some things both once you've immediately moved in to the City and for a few months down the road on somethings that you may need to/want to expect. This post was compiled (completely unscientifically) from gripes and common questions I've read and heard from people moving here. I'll do my best to keep this as brief as possible so let's dive right in. Taxes The biggest change will be to your paystub. By moving into the City you are now responsible for remitting 1% of your pay to the City as part of the Earnings tax. This tax funds roughly 1/3rd of the City budget. This tax is collected regardless if you work outside of the City limits or remotely (though if you work in Illinois or for a company located in another state you may get a Credit when you go to file your state and federal taxes that may cover a portion of the tax). First thing you should do is check with your employer on if they are withholding the 1% earnings tax from your paycheck. The earnings tax deadline is the same as the Federal and State deadline, if your employer is withholding the amount it will show up on your W2, if not then you will need to go to The Collector of Revenue's Website and download the appropriate forms and send them in along with payment. You can also use PayITSTL but I have not used that to pay the Earnings tax before. The Collector of Revenue does not know the date you moved in so they will automatically seek out a full year of back taxes if you don't file so make sure you have the appropriate documents to show when you moved into St. Louis so they do not over-charge you. Personal Property Taxes. By moving into MO you will be on the hook for "Personal Property Taxes". These taxes are on property you own, like Cars, Boats, ATVs, Trailers etc. How this works is when you want to register your vehicle in the State of Missouri you need to get what is called a waiver of non-assessment via the Assessor's office. You will either need to bring with you the Vehicle title(s) or Bill of Sale(s) you wish to register and your ID, it is also a good idea to bring something with your name on it with your new address, just makes the process a bit smoother (Insurance cards are probably the quickest and easiest to get if you haven't received a utility bill yet). You can also do this online if you want to via e-mail. Due to COVID you will have to wait in the virtual lobby to enter City Hall, enter on the CLARK st side of City Hall, NOT the Tucker Entrance. Once you get a text message it is your turn you have 20 minutes to get inside for your appointment. Assessor's website and information on the tax waiver. In November you will get a Personal Property Tax bill for year that is due by Dec. 31st. Next year in January you will receive a declaration of assessment to declare the personal property you owned which you can either mail back the form or declare online. Property taxes (Real Estate). If you purchased a home in the City, first off, congrats you found one in this hot market (as of 1/26/21). You likely don't have to do anything since your Property taxes will more than likely be paid out of your escrow account but, if you did pay all cash the Collector of Revenue's website makes it easy to pay your Property Taxes via PayIT STL. Some newer construction or rehabbed homes may carry a tax abatement which means you're paying a fraction of the assessed value as property taxes. Be sure to check with your Realtor or the City for how long is left on that tax abatement so you don't get surprised by a massive increase in taxes and a shortage in your escrow as time goes on while you are in your home. Real-Estate property is assessed on the odd numbered years so this year is an assessment year so you will receive a notice in April of what your property is going to be assessed at and what your estimated property tax will be. If you feel that assessment is unfair you can refer to the documents included to appeal the assessment just be ready by using the assessor's website to collect evidence of other similar homes to see what property taxes they are paying compared to yours, doing this you may find it isn't in your best interest if everyone else is paying around a similar amount. Water, Sewer, Trash...OH MY I'll preface this by saying most landlords include these three things in rent but not in all instances so please read if you are on the hook for these things if you're a renter. Additionally if you're in a Condo building or are part of an HOA these may be covered in those fees you pay. In the City, every 3 months you are on the hook for a combined bill for Water and Trash. Water is not (always) calculated by the usage rather a flat rate based upon the number of toilets/water closets/bath tubs etc you have in your home and if you have a pool (unless you have a water meter which is rare in the city). At some point you will want to go to the Water division's website and fill-out and sign and return the application so your water does not get shut off. Trash service will be included in this bill as well and will show up as a separate line item. Sewer service is through MSD, to set up an account contact MSD if you have not received a bill, most title companies will do this for you at closing so the bill should just show up when it is due. Sewer service will be way more expensive than Water service because MSD had not been doing the necessary upgrades to keep up with Federal regulations and standards, I know, it sucks but we gotta pay it. Utilities and Internet Service Ameren Missouri (electric) Spire Energy (natural gas) AT&T Spectrum Helpful Links How to Register your Car, Get a MO (REAL) ID, and register to vote if you just moved here in the least amount of time/trips Will I save money by getting a Water Meter installed? Citizens Services Bureau (CSB) This is the best way to get a response from a City service because it creates a paper trail, whether it be a street light out, Bulk trash pick-up missed, or a pothole that needs to be patched CSB will help open a ticket with the appropriate service to get the issue addressed. They can also be reached by phone at 314-622-4800 during normal business hours M-F. Neighborhood Stabilization Office If CSB is not responsive or you have a question about an issue that you can't find on the CSB site? Find your Neighborhood Stabilization Officer for your ward to assist. Look up your Trash service schedule here also get a Blue Recycle bin for $1 There are a ton of neighborhood associations that meet regularly to discuss issues facing their neighborhoods, the city, how to improve the neighborhoods, meet with your Alderman, Police outreach officer and just meet to get to know your neighbors. I highly recommend googling yours or checking to see if there is a Facebook group as those would be the best way to get in touch with those resources.
First off if you dont like rap or don’t have any idea who this dude is. This post might not be to your liking. And also I’m typing this on my phone so bear with me. I wish I could type this on my PC but I don’t remember this accounts password, so whatver. If you don’t know who King Von is: Dayton Daquan Bennett, known professionally as King Von, was an American rapper and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. King Von was really starting to blow up this past year, and had a lot of potential in the Chicago drill music scene. When he died, it didn’t sit right with me and the whole thing just seems really suspicious. Not because I’m some huge fan, but the story around it from the start didn’t seem right. I decided to let some time pass by to let the story develop before I dug into it. Since his death his music numbers have significantly increased. Death sells, it’s a fact. His good friend and fellow rapper that brought him into the game, lil Durk, also released an album shortly after his death thats also doing really well. The story behind his death: (short and sweet) so apparently king Von just happens to show up at this hookah lounge that a rival rapper was also attending, named Quando Rando. When King Von finds out he immediately walks over to quando and starts punching him. While the two are scuffling, quando’s homeboy comes around the back side of the SUV and shoots king Von dead and king Vons manager in the leg. This all happens in less than 30 seconds after king Von approaches Quando. Someone apparently shoots the guy that kills King Von and you can see him spin in the air after getting hit. I can’t tell who shot him though. King Von is eventually dragged to a car and both parties leave the scene. Trap Geek made a video on it Also, King Vons Manager gives his side of the story. He was there next to Von and got shot too apparently. hooka security footage 1 hook security footage 2 Here’s my problem with the whole thing.. and you have to remember these guys have a lot of money and power behind them, especially being involved with the main stream music industry. 1st: king Von just happens to be having a album release party that night. Von had a major album released on October 30. (Perfect timing) 2nd: According to his manager, they had the whole night planned out WITH security. Then Von last minute decided to go to the hookah lounge on his own with just one or two guys. While everyone else went to the Airbnb. But somehow the manager ended up there at the time of the shooting anyway??? 3rd:Vons manager says he’s usually calm, collective, and levelheaded when he “moves”. But for whatever reason, Von was just “off” that night. Then the Manager goes on to say that when Von got out of the vehicle he just happened to bump into quando. But in the footage you can clearly see Von walk over to him and Quando is standing by himself awkwardly like he’s waiting for the Que (Von to move in) 4th: Trap geek says that Vons homeboy “slutty” (think that’s his name) returns fire toward king Vons shooter, Timothy aka Tim aka lulTim, first. He also says that sluttys gun jammed while he was standing over Timothy, but I don’t see that anywhere in the footage. I don’t even see who actually shoots Tim. I can see what it looks like a cop car behind Tim but nobody gets out of that car until Timothy is on the ground. So whoever was in that car couldn’t have shot Tim. King Vons manager also says that only Tim and the cops were the ones shooting, so idk where he got his story from. Vons manager doesn’t mention slutty in his story. 5th: From what I can see, it looks like Tim fires 3 maybe 4 shots total. Vons manager says he was shot in the leg but he looks like he runs away perfectly fine on camera. Taking a shot to the leg I figure would at least knock him off his balance. (One shot dropped both Von and Tim) 6th: quando goes on Instagram live shortly when he’s at the hospital with Tim. Why? I have no idea. Maybe to help make it seem more legit? found it Okay so Quando doesn’t actually show Tim but the whole thing does looks pretty real. 7th: king Vons autopsy picture just happens to get “leaked” and I think this is where the real red flags are. Von sister just happens to uncover who leaked the photo, but doesn’t go into details how. Real suspicious. king Von autopsy (NSFW) Here is the apparent leak. There’s also a picture of Von on that same link(alive). Look how bright his LA tat is then you scroll down and it’s dark/faded. I think there are several red flags here and hopefully you guys can help clear this up for me. In the picture he clearly has chin hair. When I go look at footage from his album release party he had, he looks clean shaven. Here are a few clips of him at his album release party. IMO it doesn’t look like his chin hair is the same. It doesn’t seem accurate to his hair, and looks off. But it’s kinda hard to tell because of how they have his hair and head positioned. There’s barley any blonde dreads too. His tattoos...first off, why are his tattoos so faded? A quick google search tells me that his tats shouldn’t be so faded. Look how faded the “LA” tattoo is in the autopsy. “According to a study published Tuesday in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, tattoos can persist after macrophages die. When the immune cells wither, they leave behind ink among your skin cells—just as it was when you first got your tattoo.” IMO his tattoos don’t look exactly like they should. I’ll upload more pictures if you’ll think I’ve got some thing but for now I’ll try to explain it. The “4” on his left shoulder looks off. As well as the “smoke” that goes around it. body pics (no homo) Also the placement of the 6 and 4 seems off. Next if you look at the body in the autopsy pic, it looks nothing like Vons chest or body. However this could be due to the autopsy process but I did find out the muscles are not removed. So I’d figure he look a little more muscular shape in his chest and stomach. You can see what looks like a pelvic bone on his left side, but you don’t see those bones in any of his shirt off pictures. Apprently Tim is booked. Maybe a lawyer could chime in and let us know if this could be faked. As I understand it this document takes the form of a series of multiple columns, it relates in brief what each character was doing that particular day, and includes some unpublished detail on what the various characters were doing on particular days ‘offscreen’ (well, off-page) (IIRC extracts from this time scheme confirm it was Bill Ferny and co who ransacked the Hobbits rooms in Bree, rather than the Ringwraiths as often supposed. In addition to editorial Notes and Commentary, the edition includes much material that was hitherto unpublished, including facsimiles of manuscripts and typescripts of previous versions, a Time Scheme, new essays (especially one dealing with the background of the story and the nature of Faerie) and notes by J.R.R. Tolkien, and a list of characters.[2] On 26 February 2015, the extended edition was reissued by HarperCollins as a pocket hardback, with an additional gallery displaying the illustrations redrawn by Pauline Baynes for appearance in the 1980 deluxe edition of Poems and Stories.[3]

Tolkien's manuscripts "Converse of Manwë and Eru" (1959), "Reincarnation of Elves" (1959-1966), and "Some Notes on 'Rebirth', Reincarnation by Restoration, among Elves" (1972). These manuscripts were originally published in part or summarised in Morgoth's Ring and The Peoples of Middle-earth.
With the publication of much linguistic material during the 1990s, especially in the History of Middle-earth series, and the Vinyar Tengwar and Parma Eldalamberon material published at an increasing rate during the early 2000s from the stock of linguistic material in the possession of the appointed team of editors (some 3000 pages according to them),[23][24] the subject of Tolkien's constructed languages has become much more accessible.
In my Foreword to The Peoples of Middle-earth, pp.ix-x, I referred to the forerunner of the History as 'an entirely "private" study, without thought or purpose of publication: an exhaustive investigation and analysis of all the materials concerned with what came to be called the Elder Days, from the earliest beginnings, omitting no detail of name-form or textual variation.' This work, which I called The History of the Silmarillion, and which I began after the publication of my 'constructed' text, runs to more than 2600 very closely typed pages, and it does not even touch on the Second and Third Ages. When the possibility arose of publishing at least part of this work, in some form, it was obvious that it would have to be heavily reduced and curtailed, and the part of The History of Middle-earth dealing with the Elder Days is indeed a new presentation of The History of the Silmarillion, and a severe contraction of it, especially in respect of the sheer quantity of variant manuscript material reproduced in full.
...There are also some unpublished materials that Tolkien wrote on this subject that will not see the light of day for several decades, as both JRRT and CJRT did not want them exposed (Tolkien felt ashamed that he had even contemplated their contents). I have seen one of these in 1982, just prior to Christopher Tolkien taking possession of the entirety of the Bodleian Library’s collection of JRRT’s writings for the First/Second Ages. It is very likely that collectively these could answer more definitively the issue of “What are Orcs?” despite none of these essays themselves reaching a firm conclusion...
...Also, it may be likely that the Dwarves didn't do a lot of fighting, and probably only provided engineering services (making battlefield works and working as sappers or engineers to bring down fieldworks throw up by the good guys)… I'll see if I can find the source for why I got that idea… It's in some of the photocopies I got to make of Tolkien's stuff at Marquette University (The source was just a scribbling of some numbers of troops at the Battle of the Last Alliance, and the number of Dwarves was really small compared to the other troops) ...Unfortunately, most of what I have has already shown up in CJRT's The History of Middle Earth. I plan to make another trip when I can get some more brownie points to spend to get me access to the library again, this time, trying to sort out what is in some of the harder to read materials that are probably about Orcs, and Morgoth's early attempts to kidnap elves to turn to his cause… I got the feeling that Morgoth wanted the elves to join him voluntarily, but didn't understand (or, more likely, was just beyond his understanding) why the elves refused to have anything to do with him (I'd also like to see if there is anything about Sauron in the earlier materials and when he first appears in the earlier works, as Sauron WAS able to corrupt some elves later -albeit not how Morgoth had hoped. The elves would have never helped or fought for Sauron if they had a clue as to his real identity, but it does pose a good question, of would the elves of Eregion have fought for Sauron while he still had his more attractive guise if Sauron had concocted some scheme to get those elves to oppose Gondor, Lorien, or Imladris)… Anyway… I do still have a lot about Orcs that I was able to dig up, including how they were created after Morgoth's original corruption of the elves. It was a MESSY and REALLY GROSS process. Well, there is one version of Orc creation that never changed. Creation is probably the wrong word for it, as it is really how Orcs were mass produced after the creation of the first Orcs via the corruption of the Elves stolen from Cuiviénen by the infamous Black Rider (the first such figure, who was an opposition to Oromé). Tolkien was not happy with the Orc creation stories because they all took him to places that he felt that no sane person should ever consider, and he remarked to himself once "How can I ever have allowed myself to consider this." on the side of a page that was remarking on how Orc Farming might be accomplished. He did eventually rule out the breeding of Orcs by natural means (that means no female Orcs, ever), and stated that no Elve woman would allow herself to conceive such a monstrosity, and that humans who had been successfully impregnated by Orcs would usually die of the pregnancy (there is a crossed out bit that looks to read "Except in cases where the woman…"). I speculate that he might have suggested that very corrupted and evil human women might survive a pregnancy from an Orc fertilization, but the really awful part is that any such offspring would only be chopped up to be used as seed or fertilizer for other Orcs being grown in the pits of filth where they are farmed (with various other ingredients added during the gestation in their womb of filth in order to specialize the crop). This is where the addition of human remains would be important to the creation of your "Man-Orc" or Uruk-Hai, but even this would take many generations. Maybe 20 years for five to ten generations, depending upon the quality of Orc wanted, the longer the time, the better the quality of Orc. So, Uruks would probably be four to five years per generation. That is still a very short time to breed Orcs, as a HUGE Army could be raised in relatively short times. Also, many of the Orcs in a batch might not make it, or they might be cannibalized as food by those "Hatching" early. So, yes, Tolkien thought that it was best left to the Imagination. PJ in the movies did use the same passages that I read to show the "birthing pits" beneath Isengard when he was raising the Uruk-Hai. On that subject… What people probably don't realize is that Saruman had probably been at his Orc breeding for quite a few generations before he even openly considered opposing the rest of the council… Probably since the assault on Dol Goldur, in fact. (given that his first batch was probably only 10 to 50 Orcs, with 1/5 of those being Uruk-Hai, and he would have needed to use almost all of the Uruk-Hai as seed crop (meaning that they would be killed in the process), it would take him about 10 generations to raise his army of 10,000 Uruk-Hai, or around 40 to 80 years. So, that could be another reason he was not so keen to attack Dol Goldur, as he knew that he would immediately have Sauron back in Mordor, breeding his own competitive hoard on a much larger breeding farm… Again, just speculation, but it does match with the numbers…

Program Direct or, Higher Education Strand ----4lbWo60Z;pBYSes Based on a minimal definition of action as movement, we propose a framework for a stepwise study of human behavior that begins with the physical aspects of observed behavior, then expands to biological, and thereafter to social, cultural, and psychological attributes in search of explaining the remaining behavioral variations. A corollary to our definition is that the transition from physics to biology (and from biology to social and psychological exploration) calls for alternative, domain-specific, nonphysical formalizations. This perspective sketches out an initial blueprint for pursuing an agenda of considering actions in various domains/tiers in an overarching conceptual platform. It is our hope that this approach will produce a fruitful structure for stimulating interdisciplinary discussion of the existing methods of investigating behavior and generating new methods. From a methodological angle, our platform generates investigation potential akin to what reverse Bayesian analysis brought to Bayesian analysis 44,45,46. We emphasize that ours is not a reductionist proposal to claim that everything can be explained by physics or by anything else. Rather, we suggest that physical laws deserve the first chance to explain observations from animate and inanimate worlds because matter and energy included in biological domains do not lose their physicality by virtue of the added DNA, brain, higher faculties, and society in which individuals grow up and live. The benefit of starting at the physical core and remaining within the borders of this first tier is to eliminate the necessity for modelers who inevitably use physical forms to justify the relevance of this work to human behavior. This perspective is not intended as a guideline for others to follow. Instead, we attempt to consider new approaches to thinking, investigating and categorizing the study of human 16 behavior. He was the son of Abel and Nancy (Van Dyke) Millikin, a moderately wealthy farmer in Western Pennsylvania. His grandfather came from Ireland as a Scotch-Irish Presbyterian in 1771. His mother was of Dutch origin, whose ancestors came to America in the seventeenth century. James Millikin would later name Van Dyke Street in northwest Decatur in her honor around 1880. Little is really known about his childhood. As a farm boy, James helped drive herds of steers to New York City. In the fall of 1846, he matriculated in Washington College (now Washington and Jefferson College), Washington, Pennsylvania. It was while attending Washington that he made the vow to found an institution of learning, if ever he were able, to fit youth for occupations. The lure of the west called James, and in 1849 he accompanied his father on a sheep drive into Indiana and again in 1850 to Danville, Illinois. During the winter of 1850, he was at Wabash College, although records are unclear as to what he studied, or how long. Returning to Pennsylvania in 1851 for more sheep, he again drove them to Danville with a partner named McFarland. During the 1850's, James continued to increase his flocks and herds. He rented many farms for grazing and was called "the cattle king of the Prairie State." He also started purchasing real estate, most of it from public domain. In 1856, James Millikin arrived in Decatur, where he continued in his livestock and real estate dealings. On January 1, 1857, he married Anna Bernice Aston, daughter of the Rev. Samuel M. Aston, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mount Zion since 1855. Mr. Aston was pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Ten Mile, Pennsylvania, when James was in his early teens, and Anna and her sister Nancy had been educated in Washington Female Seminary in Washington. James Millikin entered the banking business in 1860, placing his board J. Millikin & Co. in front of the building that was formerly home to the Railroad Bank, which had recently failed. He gradually reduced his livestock holdings and devoted his interests to real estate and banking, with some investments into local industry. He assisted in the organization of the Union Iron Works, serving as its president, as well as the Decatur Coal Company. His bank became the largest banking institution in Illinois outside of Chicago. In 1897, he reorganized his bank as the Millikin National Bank of Decatur. He served on various boards in the city, including as member of the Board of Supervisors and as an Alderman. While he ran for State Senator, a distrust of banks that was prominent in the Middle West defeated him. In 1876, he built a house at Pine and West Main Streets in Decatur. Following the founding of the university, Mr. Millikin continued in his banking business until his death on March 2, 1909 in Orlando, Florida. Mrs. Millikin died on July 29, 1913. To the city of Decatur she left her early benefaction, the Anna B. Millikin Home for aged women, which had been organized in 1879 as the Girls' Industrial School of Old Ladies' Home. In her will, she bequeathed her home and lot to be the home of the Decatur Art Institute, owned by the university and managed jointly by the university and the citizens of Decatur. She had participated in the selection of the university colors and served as chairman of the Women's Hall section of the Building Committee after July 7, 1908. Faculty committee and the Board of Managers would later name this dormitory Aston Hall for her family. The Millikins died without issue, besides the philanthropic gifts to the city of Decatur. Millikin's Vision What James Millikin envisioned when he founded Millikin University in 1901 was unique: a university that would embrace the "practical" side of learning along with the "literary and classical;" and, while affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, it would not be narrowly "sectarian" and would remain open to all. The Junior FIRST Lego League is for kids aged 6 - 10. It consists of a research task based on a STEM related theme, then a presentation, featuring a mechanical device that the team builds from lego.
The First Lego League (FLL) is an international robotics competition, for teams kids aged 8-14. Autonmous robots built from the lego mindstroms kit have to complete a variety of tasks. The great thing about the FLL is you're guaranteed to create a robot that will work in some capacity, and you'll have a lot of fun doing it. One of the best things about the FLL is a lot of the skills you develop can't be taught in a classroom, such as teamwork, organisation, self-motivation, presentation skills etc.

Here is my story to becoming a Federal 1750 Instructional Systems Specialist, with some words of advice
So, a part of this subreddit is hugely dedicated to Corporate or educational institution Instructional Design. Because of that, a substantial opportunistic part of this career field is left out, I feel. That is the Federal career part. This is my route about how I became a GS 12 Instructional Systems Specialist working for an unnamed federal agency in Washington DC. I joined the Army many years after college and completed basic training; at this time, I had an associate’s degree in Computer Science and used the Army’s Student Loan repayment program to pay off my student loans. I was stationed in Korea 2 times, as well as in El Paso, and a stint as a recruiter in Illinois. I decided to continue my education in the Army as a recruiter. Using their Tuition assistance, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Technical Management and a Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology while I was on recruiting duty. In all actuality, I owe this to my online school recruiter, who came to visit me while on duty and suggested the Instructional Design program. I didn’t know anything about it at the time, but he gave me a very well put together description of how it related to the real world and how to apply it in a career. I began my online master’s program in Instructional Design, and it took most of a year and a half to complete based on my already earned credits. In no time, I had completed my degree and was on my way out of the Army. Unfortunately, even with all the career transition assistance, the Army provided, I could not land a job. Soon my time in service was ending, so I needed to find a job and quickly. So I decided to go back to Korea, and this time as an English teacher. It was the easiest, and they hired me instantly without an interview. I began my ESL career as a civilian teaching middle school, high school, and adults for about four years. I could tell this was a go-nowhere path, as I met so many older burned-out teachers from all parts of the world. I moved around during that time to different schools about 3 to 4 times. Including one in Japan. During my time in Japan, I decided to look back at my degree and seriously put some effort into a resume and interviewing. In all actuality, I wasn’t doing so well, and I knew it. My target was a federal career, and I applied daily to any open 1750 position I found online at USAJOBS. I soon had 200 and more open applications in the system. Rejections were common. The key to landing a federal career in Instructional Design is to narrate your resume to the job description. See, in USAJOBS, there are several steps to applying, and one of these is the assessment questionnaire. You are to rate yourself on a scale of “have some knowledge” to “Highly experienced” to a series of questions they ask about the position’s roles. This is important because you never want to sell yourself short. Let’s say you have a question asking if you have ever worked with High-level subject matter experts to resolve some issue about training. Even though I might never have worked with any subject matter experts, I could still relate my Army career and/or my experience teaching to reflect that somehow. I could practically come up with one thing in my career that would relate to the assessment questions somehow. You don’t want to be that honest and answer that you have no experience doing those things. During this time, and my exit from the Army, I built a portfolio of my work. I didn’t research or put anything technically related to showcase that I knew how to use Camtasia or Adobe. However, I did build it around my portfolio from my Instructional Design program. I included some pictures of myself, as well as projects I had worked on in school. I had built a pretty decent online presence with my own domain name. I had been taught the importance of a portfolio in school, but it didn’t have a direction for what I wanted to do; instead, it told about me and showcased my past work. I tweaked it weekly to ensure that it was concise and not too much. While teaching in Japan, I noticed I had seen a few “referrals” on USAJOBS. Some were in a green status, and some had been sent to the hiring manager for review. I was getting excited because I was finally doing something right. Remember, I was now modifying my resume to the job announcement. I took those assessment questions, copying them to a word document, choosing the ones that I could relate to in my career, and editing the questions’ sentence structure to become bullet points in my resume. I was getting some pretty well-paying referrals for some GS11 and some GS 9 positions. Some of the salaries they were starting with were from 70K annually and up. Then some emails from some important people began to appear in my inbox the following week. I want to say I had about 6 to 7 referrals with upcoming interviews. The first interview was requested from Petaluma, California, with the US Coast Guard; a Major in the coast guard had reached out to me by email asking about my interest in the positions. I replied I was ecstatic to move forward with an interview. I was positively upbeat the whole time, and a new thing they requested was to create training for them as a “pre-homework” of sorts. The homework was to create a training guide for first aid training to use for their service members. I was given minimal instructions, aside from a few Coast Guard manuals and website linking me to their guides in training regulations. I figured I might have an advantage because of my Army service and applied my first aid knowledge training to my homework. I took this seriously and researched extensively in their manuals and forms about how my project should look. It took all of about a week, but I compiled a proper first aid training and emailed them back. I waited, and I waited. I thought the work I did was right and waited for the appropriate interview to happen. I was nervous and scared; I was undoubtedly the most qualified for the position; I did the assignment correctly and adequately to their standards. Indeed I showed them I had the skill, patience, and attention to detail to build a first aid training course. I began to get worried and researched the etiquette of reaching out to the hiring officials. I didn’t want to seem too pushy about it, but I did a lot of work, and I should at least be interviewed for it, so I thought. After about a month, I reached out to the Human Resources official, and they could not give me a clear answer about whether I was to have an interview or not. In a federal agency’s hiring rules, they cannot give any information about your application’s current status. It frustrated me that they made me do “homework,” and I was not interviewed for the position. So that was a harsh lesson to learn, especially being in a foreign country and getting my hopes up. Several other agencies had reached out to me, and I was soon hosting multiple interviews over the phone in Japan. I was extremely careful to inform them of this fact and that the optimal time to call and have the interview over the phone would have to be midnight my time, and around 10 am in the US. Remember, I am still in Japan at this time, so it’s pretty amazing how they still wanted to interview me; this told me I was correctly managing my resume to their job announcement. So I stayed up and created an ID cheat sheet document of potential questions they might ask in an interview. I wrote down the ADDIE model, Kirkpatricks, and Bloom’s Taxonomy and some of my experiences in Teaching and how it might translate to the field. This was a smart move, as all the interviews I have had were over the phone, and to Japan no less. I interviewed with the Air Force and with the Army’s Officer school. I would say the interviews went well, and using my cheat sheets helped me get the routine of my wordings down. The more I interviewed, the more I enjoyed it and speaking to strange people in the field across the world. Many interviews went like this; they would usually state the questions’ format, introduce themselves, and paneled by 3 to 4 people sometimes. One person would ask me about some of the academic stuff testing my Instructional Design knowledge; someone else might ask me about teamwork. Another person would ask me how I have applied some of the past instructional design concepts. Finally, they would wrap it up with some questions about hypothetical conflict scenarios. It went like this for two interviews, but the talks seemed to be the same, except the Armys Officer school focused more on teamwork and less on ID stuff. The last interview came over the phone with the Army Engineers that I had applied to about a month prior with the barrage of applications I hit USAJOBS with. I had to go back and recheck the position to refresh myself about it. This time, the interview was the same, and I came out with a good feeling about it. I had rehearsed and used my cheat sheet again. Again it was a panel interview and focused more on the humanistic side of working together than asking me anything about how I have applied ID in my past careers. To note, I had a portfolio I often brought up, but the interview panel never asked for it. Creating a portfolio was unnecessary for securing an interview and much less an interview for the job. That was interesting to note, but I am glad I had made one none the less. After a week after I interviewed over the phone in Japan with this agency, the Branch Chief emailed me and asked if I was still interested in the job. I replied with an ecstatic, “yes.” My only concern is how to emphasize that they need not worry that I was living in Japan and that I would not drop off the earth to come work for them. I knew that would be a thought in their minds, so it was up to me to keep communication channels up and be professional to alleviate the idea that they took a risk hiring someone overseas. After this acceptance, I completed a lot of paperwork on the USAJOBS portal. A lot of information to fill out, including a security background check. I had to travel to the Army installation at Camp Zama in Japan to complete my digital fingerprints. It was an exciting experience meeting some of the federal employees in Japan; they told me they do this all the time for US citizens in japan. I just had to wait at the front gates of the base for them to pick me up. Baam! I am an Instructional Designer with a starting salary of 64K. The position was in the GS 11 pay band scale. And within a month after the interview and after completing the paperwork, They paid for my flight to the USA, and I was back home with a new good job! I took about two weeks to fly to my hometown to be with family before moving to take the job. Being a GS 11 and a new federal employee as 1750 was a great experience; I could finally work as myself and not work for others teaching English and continuously worrying about myself and what would come next. I had stability and a great career, a good salary, and benefits. Most of this first job involved working the existing pieces of training in the Community of Practice. I was more of a program manager. Like an action officer, I would maintain and manage flight itineraries of the instructors and build travel packets for them to the training. I would work closely with our finance administrator to get approvals for funding. If the class were in another city, I would often fly there to evaluate the training. With that agency, I flew to DC, Portland two times, and Colorado. I got to know a lot about the branch chiefs and the Instructors. It was fun to learn about what they taught and how they came about landing in their particular career. This was an enjoyable job because working in/with the Army often meant to forego work and have many social gatherings with co-workers. Not that stressful, there were some days where we “pretended” to work. After about the ninth and tenth months with the agency, I began to look at USAJOBS and apply to GS 12 positions. I tweaked and modified my resume with my new experiences with this job and started to apply to home higher-paying positions. Soon, more agencies began to contact me. This time it was the FBI, Census Bureau, and the Army again. I interviewed with them over teleconferencing and got some feedback that I was highly qualified for the positions. Then, a good problem began to form, I had a job offer from two different agencies, and they wanted me to start with them in the year. Ironically, I had modified my resume, but not too much to a degree where I was using practically the same resume I had gotten hired for my current position with the agencies I interviewed. Another agency contacted me from Washington, DC, and asked about an interview; I obliged and had a great interview over conferencing again. I got feedback that I was the most qualified for all of these positions also. But I was being honest and answering interview questions as best I could. I wasn’t doing anything that spectacular. None of these interviews wanted to see my portfolio. It came down to the line for two different agencies, both offering me a GS12 position. However, one of them was a GS 12/13 position, which meant that I would be promoted in a year to GS13 instead of doing the prerequisite career steps. That GS12/13 position was in DC, and after reviewing the starting pay at 86K a year, I decided to go with them. The hiring official contacted me, and I accepted the job, and I was whirlwind into more great problems like deciding where to live and how to adjust to the DC life. Remember, this is Federal Instructional Design; I want to emphasize that the way I achieved getting these interviews was based on the content of my resume and not a portfolio. You see, in Federal ID, you are qualified based on your education. And they have to follow strict regulations from the office of personnel management to determine what 1750 is required to have. According to the website on OPM, an Instructional Systems specialist basic qualifications is this:
*“Instructional Systems Series, 1750 Individual Occupational Requirements Basic Requirements: Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas: Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software. Some positions in this series may specialize in one or two functional areas, where more specific academic preparation may be necessary. For such positions, agencies may require course work in the applicable functional area(s) as part of the above-required 24 semester hours.”*
My advice is if this subreddit is inundating you with requiring you to make a portfolio with Camtasia, and Adobe Captivate, and whatever cool technology Instructional Designers use, don’t fret. If you have already earned a degree in Instructional Design from an accredited school, you have qualified yourself to work in the Federal ecosystem for ID. Remember, the basic requirement is 24 semester hours. The only thing I might concern about is if any veterans are applying for those jobs, they will receive 5 and 10 pts respectively if they have a connected disability. But I genuinely think most qualified people could be hired on; I mean, look at me, I did it. In my view, landing a job In instructional design in the federal environment is not that difficult. It is, of course, different in the corporate realm; yes, I know that. This subreddit makes it out to seem more difficult to land a job than it is. And a lot of this stems from the portfolio point of view. Yes, go out and make a portfolio; anyone looking for a career should automatically have a portfolio established already. We practically learned this in college, and maybe in high school. Recall, I landed two federal jobs WITHOUT a portfolio. I challenge anyone who says you need one to get a job in the federal environment that that is not the case. If a portfolio were required, it would be in the job announcement as a qualification. I have found that (and my current supervisor actually told me this) it helps to have so much passion and personality in your interview. My supervisor straight up told me that I was NOT the most qualified person for the positions. The other candidates were dripping in experience with their background and education. Instead, he found that I carried myself in my interview in a nonchalant, very personal way. He said that I was the most professional candidate focusing on the camera and not fidgeting or exasperating; he found it refreshing that I was a consummate professional and full of personality during the interview. He told me that my motivation and passion were showing and said that the interview questions were designed to identify the qualified candidate, but that I could actually answer them in a way that was natural, and he couldn’t help but notice my energy. ID is about the ADDIE model from FSU, and Blooms and Kirkpatrick’s levels; it’s such a great starting point. We have the technology and software LMS side, with so many avenues, but I think sometimes we get wrapped up in the technology that we often forget the personal side of teamwork and working with others. There has to be some semblance of passion, motivation, and desire in this job; not everything has to be made out to be academic, systemic, and technology-based. I didn’t use any of these things to land a job in ID; I used my knowledge, education, and character in the interview chair. I studied and learned best practices for interviewing, and that’s what I don’t see discussed in this subreddit. How on earth will you get a job in the ID field if you can’t articulate and communicate and passionately converse on ID? If you are interested in landing a Federal Career in the Instructional Design field, start studying the requirements. Look with great focus on what they are asking and how you can manage your resume to meet them. This will ensure at least a referral, if not an interview. Practice the STAR method for interviewing, and since this pandemic is causing us to work from home, that’s an advantage to making cheat sheets and posting them around your laptop; they won’t know. You will not anticipate the questions, so it’s a good idea to have your post-it notes ready. Apply to the GS11 positions in USAJOBS, apply to 2 a week, and practice answering the assessment questions in a mock interview. Make sure you answer them as “highly qualified’, don’t sell yourself short, or you might not get selected. Then copy them to a word document, and choose the ones to edit and adapt to your resume. Tie them to your own experience in the past. Use the resume builder on USAJOBS to build an incredible resume that you will change and adapt based on the job announcements. It isn’t likely that you might find a great career in your hometown, so consider some positions in other cities; there are even some in Korea and overseas. You have to have some desire to do this, or you won’t be able to make strides in the field. I moved from Japan to DC and now make more money than I ever would have if I just decided to work in my hometown. Work on your portfolio, but don’t work on it so much you don’t work on your resume and your interview skills. In my opinion, the resume is the most important thing to landing a job in the federal environment; equally as important is the interview. So focus on doing them well, the portfolio can be mentioned, but I doubt agencies will be curious to look at them. Remember, the people you are interviewing with are doing just that, “interviewing” they might not have the time to go through your portfolio. They have five maybe ten candidates to interview. Do you really think they want to waste time reviewing a portfolio? I’m sorry to say, but they are just taking an hour or two out of their day to interview you, then go back to their jobs. The likely hood that they want to see what you did on a website is very low. My thoughts on portfolios are this, and I believe this could hold true in the corporate world as well; If they REALLY wanted someone who had the skills to work an LMS, or Captivate, or webEx, or some kind of technology or software, then they could just train existing employees on that skill. It would be so much more cost-effective for them to train existing employees using YouTube videos than hiring you. What you show in a portfolio is what you had done and that you are competent and skillful in a specific technology. A portfolio most likely won't show is how well you perform in the interview chair, how you adapt and overcome, and how you are motivated and passionate about ID. A portfolio will show skills, but you still need to land the job, which relies on your personality and professionalism in the chair.

Friend of Princess Michael of Kent (King George V’s grandson). O’Neill, Louis: An American diplomat and attorney. Has worked for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Obama administration, the State Department, and as Special Assistant of Russian Affairs for Colin Powell. Oates, Simon: British actor who died in 2009. Oates, Tom: Former investment director at BlackRock, an investment management company. Ojora, Yinka: CEO and/or Director of a number of investing groups in Nigeria. WHO WAS JUDAS? Judas Iscariot is most commonly known as one of the 12 disciples closest to Jesus, being the one who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. His name has become a synonym for “traitor” in modern times, however back then the name “Judas” was popular in the time of Jesus, (Also the Greek form of the Hebrew “Judah,” thetribeof the heroicKing Davidand the coming Messiah.) Overall, there are 3 people named Judas in the gospels (and eight total in the New Testament). Two of them were disciples of Jesus, and one of them was Jesus’ half-brother, which probably made family gatherings a little awkward after Jesus’ death. It’s also possible that Jesus’ brother Judas (also Jude Thaddeus) was one of the Twelve.TheJudas is distinguished from the others as Judas Iscariot. There is much debate on the actual identity between Judas Iscariot and Judas (Jude) Thaddeus. Thaddeus is thought to have been a nickname for Judas, and some scholars believe the quote “Judasthe sonof James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.” (Luke 6:16) to have housed a translation error, being that “son” was originally meant to be “brother”. Jesus is said to have brothers named both Judas and James, which would play into the idea that Judas is Jude, the brother of Jesus. Others insist that they are two separate people. Despite having two or possibly three people named Judas in the gospel, it’s easy to tell when the Bible is talking about the Judas, because he’s always identified as Judas Iscariot. There is little mentioned in the readings pertaining to Judas, but what is listed states that he was in charge of the groups money, and that he was particularly untrustworthy even before his betrayal. He is painted as a greedy, traitorous thief, which seems implausible when one considers that Judas joined such a group and was appointed treasurer by Jesus of said group. He had Jesus arrested, and through this betrayal, Judas triggered the crucifixion, the resurrection of Jesus, and ultimately the salvation of humanity. He is also said to have shown remorse after the betrayal as well. Originally, the motive behind this betrayal is never stated. According to Mark, Judas offers to betray Jesus without even asking for money. Other gospels provide 2 different motives, one natural, and the other supernatural. For example, Luke and Matthew depict Judas asking for money in exchange for Jesus, whereas John has no mention of money and instead claims that Judas was “entered by Satan”. (John 13:2 states “During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him,” which puts Judas as the “son of Simon”. This adds to the belief of Judas being Jesus’ brother and there being a translational error seeing as Jesus also has a brother named Simon.) Reason aside, Jesus is said to have always known what Judas would do, and that Jesus did not stop it because it was an essential part of God’s plan. The Gospel of Judas on the other hand, paints Judas in an entirely different light. The text itself is dated to about A.D. 280, and tells the story of Judas as a collaborator with Jesus instead of a betrayer. Through studying the ink on the parchment, studies determined the reading to be authentic. As part of a 2006 National Geographic Society (the Society) investigation of the document, microscopist Joseph Barabe of McCrone Associates in Illinois and a team of researchers analyzed the ink on the tattered gospel to find out if it was real or forged. It also brings to light the fact that the Gospel itself never actually labels Judas as a traitor so to speak, as the word “betrayed” was never actually used. Prof Klassen of the Ecole Biblique, a biblical research institution in Jerusalem, discovered that the gospels did not in fact say that Judas "betrayed" Jesus, but used the Greek verb “paradidomi”, which in all other ancient texts means "to hand over". (SOURCE) The Biblical Scholar argued in a 1997 biography of Judas that many of the details of his treachery were invented or exaggerated by early Christian church leaders, especially as the church began to move away from Judaism. Furthermore, Jesus is not even exactly in hiding when Judas points him out to begin with, and in John, he fails to even do that much. His main role from an outside perspective appears to have mostly been to fulfill the narrative of the Messiah being betrayed by someone. The truth behind his motives is unclear to this day however, as due to the fact that the Gospel of Judas was written around a century after the deaths of both Judas and Jesus, no solid proof remains. That goes for all of the Gospels, as all of them were written by multiple mostly anonymous authors who never even met Jesus. THE GOSPEL OF JUDAS (read it here: https://www.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/national/judastxt.pdf ) The scene starts with, “One day he was with his disciples in Judea, and he found them gathered together and seated in pious observance. When he [approached] his disciples, [34] gathered together and seated and offering a prayer of thanksgiving over the bread, [he] laughed.” His disciples are gathered in prayer of the eucharist (Lord’s Supper). The disciples said to [him], “Master, why are you laughing at [our] prayer of thanksgiving? We have done what is right.” He answered and said to them, “I am not laughing at you. are not doing this because of your own will but because it is through this that your god [will be] praised.” Take notice of Jesus’ reference in saying “your” god. This implies that the god the disciples are praising is not the same god that Christ came from. They said, “Master, you are […] the son of our god.” Jesus said to them, “How do you know me? Truly [I] say to you, no generation of the people that are among you will know me.” In response to this, the disciples become angry with Jesus, and despite claiming to have the strength to create the perfect human, they cannot face him, all except Judas Iscariot. When his disciples heard this, they started getting angry and infuriated and began blaspheming against him in their hearts. When Jesus observed their lack of [understanding, he said] to them, “Why has this agitation led you to anger? Your god who is within you and […] [35] have provoked you to anger [within] your souls. [Let] any one of you who is [strong enough] among human beings bring out the perfect human and stand before my face.” They all said, “We have the strength.” But their spirits did not dare to stand before [him], except for Judas Iscariot. He was able to stand before him, but he could not look him in the eyes, and he turned his face away. This text goes to show that his disciples did not have as much faith in Jesus as many today originally portray, they do not follow him blindly and at times held anger against him, even blaspheming him in their hearts, as is described above. How is it that Jesus’ very own disciples do not know him, according to Jesus himself? Judas [said] to him, "I know who you are and where you've come from. You've come from the immortal realm of Barbelo, and I'm not worthy to utter the name of the one who's sent you." Judas Iscariot is shown here as being the only one of the disciples present to know who Jesus really is and where he has come from. He does not say here how exactly he knows this. The mentioned “immortal realm of Barbelo” is in reference to heaven, or some heavenly being associated with it. “Barbelo is the name given to the first entity to arise from God in the literature of the classic Gnostics. After God, she’s the foremost inhabitant of the Pleroma, the Gnostic name for Heaven”, sources claim, describing “God the Father, Barbelo the Mother, and Christ the Son” as being the divine family. Like the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), Barbelo is synonymous with the Holy Spirit. The word for “spirit” in Hebrew and other Semitic languages is feminine, so to the ears of people who spoke those languages, the name “Holy Spirit” would have almost automatically connoted a feminine being. Judas Iscariot appears to also be aware of the one who sent Jesus originally (assuming this to be their true God), and that he is not worthy of even uttering said God’s name out loud. In Judaism, the four letter name of God (YHWH) is forbidden to be uttered except by the High Priest under certain conditions. However, at the end of the day, there is much debate on the true name of God and it remains unknown. Then Jesus, knowing that he was thinking about what's exalted, said to him, "Come away from the others and I'll tell you the mysteries of the kingdom. Not so that you'll go there, but you'll grieve much 36 because someone else will replace you to complete the twelve [elements] before their God. Other translations quote not that Judas will “grieve much”, but that he will “be much grieved”. Other translations also quote “in their God” rather than “before their God”. Jesus appears to essentially be telling Judas to come speak with him privately so that he may tell Judas the “secrets of the Kingdom”, not because Judas will ever go there, but so that Judas may possibly grieve over the loss of his exalted rank in their group. He directly tells him here that he will be replaced, and that someone else will complete the “12 elements” (elements being disciples?). The number 12 is a representation of perfection and authority, oftentimes representing the church and faith in general. The number itself is associated with the perfect government of God, a symbol of divine rule, and is overall an important number. Take for example, the fact that there are also 12 months to a year, 12 different signs of the zodiac, and 12 gates to God’s Kingdom (with a designated angel to guard each gate), and of course, the 12 apostles of Christ. Judas said to him, "When will you tell me these things, and when will the great day of light dawn for the generation […]?" (also translated “dawn for the … race?”) But when he said these things, Jesus left him. The great day of light essentially referencing the Day of the Lord(?) The link between the two is unclear, as I am unable to find anything online referencing “The great day of light” directly. When morning came, he appeared to his disciples, and they said to him, “Teacher, where did you go? What do you do after you have left us?” Jesus said to them, “I went to another great and holy race.” His disciples said to him, “Lord, what is the great race that is more exalted and holier than we but not now in these aeons?” (aeons meaning “realms”) When Jesus heard these things, he laughed and said to them, “Why are you thinking in your heart about the strong and holy race? 37 Truly I say to you, no offspring [of] this aeon will see that race, nor will any angelic army of the stars rule over that race, nor will any mortal human offspring be able to go with it. For that race does not come from [this aeon] that came into being, [ . . . ] the race of the human beings that are among them, but it is from the race of Those Great People. [ . . . ] the powerful authorities that [ . . . ] nor any power [ . . . ] , those by which you rule.” When his disciples heard these things, they were disturbed in their spirit, each one, and they were at a loss for words. This part of the text describes Jesus as having visited a different race / realm entirely, something he would have had to have done without a physical body. That aside, this implies that there is in fact, more than one realm in existence, the one in question supposedly having not come from the realm where his disciples currently reside, with no mortal offspring being able to access it. Jesus describes this mysterious realm as being home to a race that no angelic army of the stars will rule over, and as being home to “Those Great People”, some powerful authorities that the disciples and their realm are unaware of. Upon hearing this, the disciples were so disturbed that they were left speechless. On another day Jesus came to them, and they said to him, “Teacher, we saw you in a vision, for we saw great dreams in [this] night that passed.” He said, “Why have you [ . . . ] hid yourselves?” 38 For their part, [they said, “We] saw a great house [in which] there were a great altar, twelve men that we say are priests, and a name. A multitude was devoting themselves to that altar until the priests [finished presenting] the offerings. We too were devoting ourselves.” On a different day, the disciples are portrayed here as telling their vision of the previous night (where they supposedly had good dreams). Jesus [said,] “What kind [ . . . ]? And they said, “[Some] fast for two weeks; others sacrifice their own children, others their wives, as they bless and are humble to one another; others sleep with males; others work at slaughtering; others perform a multitude of sins and lawless deeds. And the men who stand [beside] the altar invoke your [name]. 39 And because they are engaged in all the labors of their sacrifice, that altar is full.” After they had said these things, they fell silent because they were disturbed. (The disciples appear to be describing religion and the various methods of worship used around the world). They state that all of these things are being done in the name of Jesus (which also implies that this worship was not already present in their domain). Jesus said to them, “Why have you become disturbed? Truly I say to you, all the priests that stand beside that altar invoke my name. And even more, I say to you that they have written my name upon the [ . . . ] of the races of the stars through the races of the human beings, and in my name they shamefully have planted fruitless trees.” Jesus then goes on to say that these priests and their following do indeed do all of these things whilst invoking his name, and goes on to say that these people have shamefully planted fruitless trees. He is calling their worship useless and shameful. Jesus said to them, “It is you who present the sacrifices at that altar that you saw. That is the god you serve, and you are the twelve men whom you saw. The cattle that are brought in are the sacrifices that you saw, that is, the multitude that you lead astray 40 upon that altar. He then states that these 12 priests are his 12 disciples, and that this “god” that they are worshipping is the same one being worshiped by his disciples. He compares the sacrificed cattle upon that altar to the multitude of people that they lead astray upon that altar. Under this statement, the god that Jesus is referring to in this aspect does not seem like the almighty God mentioned previously who sent Jesus, the one who’s name is supposedly so sacred that nobody is worthy to say it. [The . . . ] will stand; in this way he will use my name; and the races of the pious will devote themselves to him. Next another man will stand in attendance upon [the fornicators], and another will stand in attendance upon the killers of children, and another upon those who sleep with men (another translational error, but that will be discussed in another upload. This article is not about the gays), those who fast, and the rest of impurity, lawlessness, and error, and those who say, ‘We are equal to angels.’ And they are the stars that bring everything to completion. For it has been said to the races of the human beings, ‘Look, God has received your sacrifice from the hands of a priest’—that is, the deacon of error. But it is the Lord who commands who is lord over all things. On the last day they will be put to shame.” (put to shame, also translated as “found guilty”). Jesus describes here that people will be loyal to mock priests, that they will label themselves as holy and good in Christ’s name, and that they will compare themselves to angels, but that it will all be in vain because they are lying to themselves. He is saying that creating these sacrifices and worshipping God will not change the fact that they are as he puts it, “pious”, and devoting themselves to a false god in his name. It does not change the fact that these “fornificators” have killed children and caused harm to the innocent, that they will face their crimes come the day of judgement, and none of their so-called priests will prevent that from happening. Jesus said [to them,] “Stop sacrificing animals, which you have lifted up on the altar. Because they are over your stars and your angels, having previously come to completion there, consider them of no use, and let [ . . . ] be manifest to you.” His disciples [said, “Master,] purify us of the [ . . . ] that we have done by the deceit of the angels.” Jesus said, “It is impossible [ . . . ] them [ . . . ] nor can a fountain extinguish the [ . . . ] of the entire inhabited world, nor can a spring in a [city] satisfy all the races, except the great one that is destined. And a single lamp will not illumine all the aeons, except the second generation, nor can a baker feed the entire creation 42 under [heaven].” And [when the disciples heard these things,] they said to him, “Master, help us, and save us!” The disciples, upon hearing Jesus tell them of all these wrong-doings, beg him to help them and purify them of their wrong-doings. Jesus appears to be saying how one fountain cannot extinguish the (fires?) of the entire world, that one spring cannot satisfy all the races, and that a single lamp cannot illuminate all the realms. Overall, he says it is impossible for one (himself?) to simply just purify entire realms of people of their falsehoods. Jesus said to them, “Stop contending with me. Each of you has his own star, and [ . . . ] of the stars will [ . . . ] what is his. It is not to the corruptible race that I was sent, but to the strong and incorruptible race. For no enemy has ruled [over] that race, nor any of the stars. Truly I say to you (pl.), the fiery pillar will fall suddenly, and that generation will not move [ . . . ] star(s).” Jesus essentially labels these fornificators as a corrupt race, one that he was not sent to. He was sent to help the strong and incorruptible, and he tells his disciples to stop arguing with him about it. And when Jesus had said these things, he left and [took] Judas Iscariot with him and said to him, “The water [ . . . ] of the high mountain, that from [ . . . ] 43 [“. . . ] that has not come [ . . . ] the spring of the tree of [ . . . time] of this aeon [ . . . ] after a time [ . . . ] rather, he has come to water God’s paradise and the race that will endure, for he will not defile the [conduct] of that race, but [ . . . ] forever.” Judas said to him, “Rabbi, what fruit does this race possess?” Jesus said, “As for every human race, their souls will die, but as for them, when the time of the kingdom has been completed and the spirit separates from them, their bodies will die, but their souls will live and be taken up.” Jesus mentions again here, “the race that will endure”. It is shown that at some point in time, the time of the kingdom will come to an end, and the spirit will separate from their dying bodies, allowing their souls to be taken up. (“they” being the enduring race?) Judas said, “And so what will the remaining race of the human beings do?” Jesus said, “It’s impossible 44 to sow seed on [rock] and get their fruit. So too [ . . . ] the defiled race and corruptible wisdom. [ . . . ] the hand that created mortal human beings, and their souls go up to the aeons on high. Truly I say to you (pl.), [no ruler] or angel or power will be able to see those [places] that [this great] holy race will see.” After Jesus said these things, he departed. Judas asks “What about the remainder of that race? What will they do?”, to which Jesus simply states something along the lines of how these defiled peoples will be a lost cause. (“it's [not possible to sow on] the [defiled] race along with the perishable wisdom [and] the hand which created mortal humans so that their souls may go up to the realms above.”) Their souls simply will not ascend.
